I've listened to a lot of podcasts & KZbin channels that read public domain stories, and all of them have their charms, but I have to say Simon Stanhope is the most attention-commanding performer I've found. Always so clear and compelling. I never lose track of what's happening in the story, I don't distract myself and tune him out. If he's talking, I'm listening! It's quite a talent.

A charming mystery to start the new year. Thank you, Simon. I wish you all the best this coming season. I also snagged a great collection I recommend. The Winter Spirits: Ghostly tales for frosty nights. More modern in their approach. But still continues the classic tradition of telling tales on winters eves

@evelanpatton Thank you, that's very kind of you to say. Coming back to YT after some time away, I'm rather depressed to see so many AI narrations popping up all over the place. They seem to be taking over more and more, but I personally can't stand listening to them for more than a few minutes (I did try...). Also I have a strong aversion to AI artwork, so I appreciate your comments on the title cards!

Thank YOU for listening, and for caring about that... I deplore the growth of AI narration, I find it unlistenable personally, but I'm sure it's only getting smarter and it's probably getting harder to tell. I notice that there are a few channels popping up these days which purport to be real people, but clearly aren't... if listeners can't tell from the unemotional delivery, then their ability to churn out 60+ hours of the complete stories of Sherlock Holmes within a day or two is something of a giveaway! I can't keep up with that level of output even if I was able to do this full time, but I'll do my best to keep flying the flag for real human voices...
