The British country look is one of my favorites, and I am slowly working on getting a wardrobe that can support this kind of look

The British Country Look is one of my favs It is well enough to wear a suit for work, but the BCL really shows style. If you can, brown British Army wool dress pants are fantastic for this look. They have belt loops but side adjusters too. Inside buttons for suspenders inside but none for the waist, the waist has two hooks and the waist band crosses over the enter line.

I enjoyed this video, Chris. Thanks again. I grew up in the Highlands of Scotland in a very rural area and I still live & work in a rural area so I do appreciate any discussion like this. I enjoyed your description of the farmers you knew growing up. I tended to find for some reason the real gentry would wear their clothes until they would rot and were pretty much falling off them, so the more tatty the clothes the posher someone was, whereas those less well off (or nouveau riche) would make more of an effort. I knew knights and baronets who walked around in jumpers full of holes, ancient plus fours, battered old brown brogues. Tenant farmers were more smartly dressed

Hi Alexander, glad you enjoyed the video and that you could relate to its content. Its true in my experience as well, that the truly higher gentry made the most of everything they wore, I remember some of the big estates were subject inheritance taxes introduced in the mid 80's, and historical bad management, which were crippling to the new heirs, they literarily could not afford it. It was as you rightly stated, the people trying to be something they weren't that dressed up (if you like the middle class farm owners) who tried to impress. glad you enjoyed it, you will probable like the next video which is a look at the Market town look, based on the typical look back in the day, when farmers went to the market. Thanks for your comments and your ongoing support 🙂

@@TheBritishDapper That's such a important point about the new heirs literally not being able to afford it. As I grew up the truly higher gentry in my area slowly disappeared as estates were broken up or sold to absentee landlords. I remember it with sadness as they did such a lot for the community, and I went to the same village school with their kids, we drank in the same pubs & hotels. I'm very much looking forward to your Market Town video, I don't think there's anyone else on youtube discussing this type of thing about the countryside in the UK so it is very much appreciated.

I always used to ride in an outfit like that, and I remember once going to the yard with my friends, and us having a time trial around the big field, at my turn I got a full gallop around it, got back to the start, and realised I'd done it in a flat cap
@TheBritishDapper

Great story, back in my youth, flat caps were commonly worn when out on a hack and a helmet was only worn in competition cross country and jumping events. but in horse racing helmets wear regularly worn in training, great to hear you agree with my recreated looks for the British Countryside Look. Thank you for your comments and support🙂

I am glad you have covered this, Chris. I do like this style of casual attire and embrace it myself. The outfit you are wearing, seen in full at 4:30, is well put together (including the dark brown brogues) and looks very smart. Even in town, it makes a pleasant alternative to a blazer and flannels and when teamed with a colour co-ordinated waistcoat, tie and pocket square, you can take even the countryside look to a higher level. And there is nothing wrong with that.😊

Glad you enjoyed it John, it is not necessarily the best choices i would use in this day and age, but it is the truest comparison I could get relative to what I witnessed people wearing all those years ago. 🙂👍

I would have to say that the English country gentleman look is my signature style especially for autumn and winter. I usually don't have much call to wear a suit these days. I tend to wear a Tweed flat Cap or fedora and brogue shoes or boots. When shooting I will wear a Barbour wax coat for game and a moleskin shooting waistcoat for clays. Cheers Ron

My opinion on "The Look" is: it's way cool! I seriously like it. I especially liked the English Riding Boots. I actually dress quite similar to several of the looks shown and I wasn't trying to copy the style. It's just a coincidence to a degree. I need to explain the aforementioned. Peter Cushing had a, I suppose, British Country look in the film "The House that Dripped Blood" and I really liked that look. On this occasion, I did copy the costume: tan blazer, dark brown Chukka boots, yellow shirt, dark slack(I don't know if you're familiar with Dockers brand but that is what I used) and a ascot(I substituted a bandana). As always, I enjoyed the commentary and presentation. Thank you.

Glad you enjoyed the video and that you gained further insight into that particular style of look. I'm familiar with the brand Dockers. Dark Brown Chukka boots are another great addition to the look 🙂👍you might enjoy our latest video on a similar theme - The Market Town Look. Thank you for your continued support 🙂

Can I wear newsboy (eight-pin) cap with these looks or prefer flat cap? These caps are similar, but for some reason most prefer flat cap.
