The show suggests that there are significant enclave holdouts. To the extent where they can supply and maintain an entire research division of scientists. If the enclave approached FO3 levels of power again, they would easily be a match for the brotherhood.

@@nurgle-j5n when people consider America Rising 2 & Echoes of the Past mods (which many players want to be canon now in terms of fitting the pre-war background of the Lone Survivor arc), the Enclave, even after FO3, still was a force to be reckoned with., and given that Bethesda acknowledges the Creation Club mods (Enclave remnants) to be canon after the recent Fallout 4 patches in 2024. If players chose the Whitehill path correctly, they would get the powerful Enclave they wanted back in F03 under Colonel Autumn, which was removed due to Todd Howard's writing, making the Brotherhood a second-tier powerhouse behind the newly restored Enclave.

It's so obvious that the BoS ending is the canon one when the commonwealth is talked up to the main HQ of the organization. Every other ending has the player destroy the prydwen, aside from the minutemen where it's optional. But if the minutemen won then the commonwealth would hardly be anything like a BoS homeland. They could have just said 'Capital Wasteland' instead of the commonwealth and the whole 'not deciding the canonicity of endings' thing would still apply. These writers man...

I believe the show is on a completely separate timeline to the games, the games ending still happen in this timeline but the show doesn't effect the game timeline, so the show is just for the sake of fallout but isn't fully connected well not yet anyway, I think tod will not make it canon as to not piss off fans but regardless someone is gonna be no matter how he does it.

I always thought even before the show came out that Maxson's Brotherhood would go on to influence the other chapters. Both Lyons' and Maxson's leadership turned the Brotherhood of Steel into possible the most powerfaction in the wastelands. But I still want the Minutemen ending to be cannon though. I love that faction too much.

The minutemen ending could be canon too if you as the General never become hostile to the BOS then you can destroy the Institute with the minutemen and leave the BOS alive. If you go that route you can also keep the RR alive if you wanted to, depends how far into the BOS questline you decide to go.

The Minutemen always felt, to me, like an epilogue faction. After the main quest was finished. Having the sole survivor suddenly stop to rebuild the Commonwealth, prior to finding his/her son, never run true. Also, with the male sole survivor’s military backstory, it makes sense for him to join the Brotherhood in hopes of finding Shaun.

Realistically, the Brotherhood is both the most powerful and most stable of all three factions. The Minutemen ending could be canon with the Sole Survivor bringing the Commonwealth together in a united confederacy of settlements while not fighting the Brotherhood as peace can hold between them. That would have made uniting the Commonwealth with the Capital Wasteland much easier for the Brotherhood as both Minutemen and Brotherhood coexist together to restore order and create a nation. But either way, the Brotherhood holds a large dominion over the East Coast and are the dominant force there and either absorbed the Minutemen, the Minutemen never rebuilt, or simply coexist with the Minutemen. Time will tell though, we'll just have to wait and see in season 2 or Fallout 5 if they confirm the true ending to Fallout 4.

Just throwing it out there... We never found out what happened to the other airship's accompaniment. Maxson's chapter travels, finds the other group, they pool resources and establish local control. They then leave behind an occupying force and move on to where the series is located, perhaps absorbing or being absorbed by a chapter already there. That would account for 2 airships, could be stretched to cover the destruction and rebuilding of the Prydwen and the Caswennen, and provide speculative lore about the lost chapter and the massive expansion of the Brotherhood

Bethesda loves The Brotherhood of Steel and we backed them up in Fallout 3 and so I've always felt that BOS ending was canon in Fallout 4. The Sole Survivor (male is most likely canon) is already an Anchorage war veteran and was on the Frontlines in Power Armor. They know how much of a force of nature that Power Armor is and I see them liking the mission of the Brotherhood and joining up with Danse and the rest. The Minutemen have already fell apart before because they had no real infrastructure and they relied too much on one person "The General". They are basically a good guy version of Caesar's Legion in that regard and thus not sustainable. Love your content as usual my friend. You're an awesome Fallout lore historian ! Ad Victorium !

People were overdosing on chems and others were hopeless and broken as losing their families to the bombs...or worse...in the Aftermath when anarchy was everywhere. Raul from New Vegas said that his farm was overrun and burned down by Raiders. It is one of the reasons why he is sympathetic to Caesar's Legion cause they torture Raiders or enslave them. Sole Survivor would feel lost without Shaun or his wife and would go back to what he knows best, which is The Military. Canon wise, I don't see him interested in rebuilding Boston or being some savior or whatever. I see him as joining the military lifestyle again, embracing it once more, and feeling like a Soldier amongst other soldiers. You say Brotherhood is overused and yet rich lore is there

​@@archdornan8349. Bethesda pulled the Brotherhood because they nearly were destroyed by NCR in California, Same area as NCR is from. Chapters expanded because they were forced out. Brotherhood became more successful than ever ironically due to the unorthodox governing style of Lyons and Arthur Maxson. Neither are A-Holes to the people, they are OK with recruitment drives, they don't take shit at gunpoint as they traded with people over the stuff. Food and water for tech. The exact opposite of The West in most areas, especially The Mojave which were about as Brotherhood as you could get. That's why they were a non issue for the most part in New Vegas. Any faction, including Caesar's Legion (which already conquered and Enslaved a Mid-West Chapter) could body them.

To be fair the first 3 Fallouts validated the good ending. In the 1st one you can choose the bad ending where the Super Mutants take Vault 13, in the 2nd I think the Enclave can release the FEV. In fallout 3, you can go as far as you bombing the Citadel eliminating the entire BoS chapter.

And even if they wanted the BoS somehow, they could explain them as an isolated chapter or an expeditionary force which could be used to make them more antagonistic. That's literally Fallout New Vegas. There, the only surviving members of BoS locked themselves inside their bunker after losing a war with NCR and as such are nothing more than a small faction you either destroy or talk into helping you in the Battle of Hoover Dam.

The minutemen are going to be the canon ending of Fallout because they're the only faction that you can't wipe out but also can't fail, worst you can do is piss off Preston by becoming a raider in Nuka World, but even then you never stop being the general. Benevolent ruler or tyrannic despot, you can be whatever in the minutemen. Also the protagonists never end up talking the evil option. On the other hand, Nate is a former soldier, and Nora is a lawyer iirc, both have a strong moral compass, and the minutemen are also the first faction you're presented with. Odds are you already became the general and liberated citadel by the time you even make it to diamond city in your first play through. And the brotherhood has you extorting civilians for food and resources, this makes the minutemen the objectively more "good" faction, while the brotherhood are more lawful neutral. Institute are lawful evil, and railroad are chaotic good with how they do whatever is necessary to protect synths even if they end up becoming raider bosses like the one leading that raider citadel with all the boats.

If the Brotherhood ending is canon, then this could extensibly mean that the Brotherhood in the show and future iterations would have access to teleportation. Of course, they would have to reverse engineer the Institute’s system, but since the Sole Survivor already builds a relay, then they most likely would be able to build the rest with the scientists they have. The teleportation range would also be limited to the range you could broadcast a radio signal, so no cross coast teleportation, but I think it would still be cool to see in the show. This all being said, I feel that the Minutemen ending is the true canon ending. It’s the most neutral ending with the both the Railroad and Brotherhood remaining at the end. As a writer, it would be the ending that gives the most options for expanding upon the lore. Same goes for the House ending for New Vegas.

If it wasn't for the sole survivor the institute would defeat the BOS. So it hinges on what the SS would most likely do. Given the fact the Nate seemed disillusioned with the American military as it pursued war leading to him making a speech that the public should be wary as we should seek peace unless we get nuclear war. I think given what lore prewar Nate has I think he would more likely side with the minute men. He doesn't have to kill the BOS either which Bethesda seems to like this faction a lot so I assume it would be friendly to what ever plans Bethesda has for this faction in the future.

A lot of people say BOS is the worst faction and I don’t deny that since I haven’t played previous fallout games but BOS is like the best option you can have in this specific fallout game. They’re like the most realistic faction you could side with and no guys, I don’t think elder maxon is a narcissistic, unreasonable, and psychopathic maniac. He is just a traumatized kid who’s been through shit and has his idea developed upon that. Maxon is extremely reasonable since you can basically convince him to spare paladin Danse as long as he knows his place. He doesn’t try to come after strong or even the mutant strong. He also literally orders his men to protect caravan full of readers. Yes, he does it because he can get free discount from them but also traders don’t trade with BOS with kindness of their heart anyway. They are actually the most realistic faction and are objectively the heroes in fallout 4. Minutemen faction is just a pipe dream with no real goals, no plans either

Perhaps you go with the Brotherhood ending but already as the General of the Minutemen, with you being promoted to Sentinel allowing you to overtime assimilate the Minutemen into the BOS, with the Minutemen being the local BOS garrison force led by the Sole Survivor. Making the player in charge of the Commonwealth BOS while Maxon is in charge of the overall Brotherhood. I wouldn't be surprised if Bethesda say that Maxon unites all the separate Brotherhood factions such as the Midwest BOS around Chicago, Texas and other places and even some old Caesars Legion lands until the Brotherhood Empire can actually rival the NCR

With the creation club content being canon now we can see that the Brotherhood of Steel just left the Capital Wasteland after their operations. You can see it in the galaxy news radio quests and a new faction had to take over kinda in their place, the water is purified and the wasteland is secure but they are gone. Fallout 4’s whole thing is “rebuilding the wasteland” and Bethesda tends to go with the best endings for canon with their games if you look back in New Vegas when you talk to Marcus about the stuff in 2. In my opinion Bethesda would probably go with the Minutemen ending just because it leaves all the factions alive at the end (besides the institute of course), and they take back control of the Commonwealth with the Soul Survivor as the general. The Brotherhood wouldn’t be interested in leading the Commonwealth, their main interests are in getting pre war tech and moving on to new goals, or fighting a new battle.

I disagree: not only were we given a different name for the airship prior to the show airing, the Caswennan, which AFAIK no one has come out to clarify why it was given if it is incorrect or a placeholder to avoid spoilers, but there could be many explanations for "another airship called Prydwen" to appear int he TV show, starting with a USS Enterprise (Star Trek) scenario, where we have multiple ships bearing the same name, a fact further reinforced by the fact that the ship is ever slightly different from the OG Prydwen from Fallout 4, starting with the very section where the name is written. There's also some odd comments from elder Quintus, such as indicating that the BoS used to rule the wasteland, which is an odd thing to say if the BoS won in the Commonwealth, which would have further increased its power & presence on the wasteland.

I figured either the BOS or the minutemen were victorious for the new show. Though, to me, in fallout 4, It always seemed quite Ludacris and counter-productive to destroy and nuke the institute rather than the BOS just take it over. They have that military might to just take it over with force. All that incredible tech that could change the commonwealth! Maxon, overall, made a difference, and i like that he ensures the mental health of his soldiers as well as protecting the commonwealth with onging recon and vertibirds to eliminate threats. Not bad. Maybe controversial for legacy BOS, but I always really liked elder Lyons brotherhood in fallout 3. They seemed more like the good guys trying to help those and make a difference! While a bit detached from the core values of the bos, i quite like them and feel they made great progress with the overall quality of life in DC. Sarah Lyons was also a badass soldier and a cool character! A good power armored waifu! 😅 good stuff! 😆😎👍🏻

Having the Institute win would allow there to be gen 1-2 synths and greater technology like teleportation. However not so wide spread that it would reshape the entire world since the Institute seems content to simply stay in the Commonwealth.

Its also possible the BOS simply established a new base in boston, and then sent the prydwen and many of their forces back west when they heard of the fall of the NCR, and this is personally what I believe. As for Arthur Maxon being an atheist, I basically consider that to be retconned and its a retcon I dont really mind, as the BOS was always a pseudo religious order, and with how radical they were in fallout 4, effectively being fascist crusaders, them becoming a full on zealous cult is quite likley.

The three-way peace ending is the most likely canon ending. The SS helps the BoS up until rebuilding Liberty Prime, helps the Railroad behind the scenes, and then destroys the Institute with the Minutemen. The longest (and most annoying) ending of Fallout 4.

I pretty sure the minute men ending is canon but fell apart during the nuke world events. PROBABLY all the factions would probably turn on the lone survivor and without his influence. The brotherhood began to be more aggressive due to thier lack of purpose and most likely the railroad would have to leave or get wiped out. Possibly every syth mutant and moster of the area would be wiped out and raiders popping in iut while only the strongest settlements would survive or submit.

The show doesn’t validate the brotherhood as the main ending. after all teaming them up both with the minutemen could be an option, the show also has no mention of liberty prime, meaning they may had never built it. Also if you want to be completely technical in the terminal of the doctor on the prydwen he talks about how maxon is actually a cyborg, with technology enhancements to his body. considering that this is nine years after fallout four, the prydwen could have been blown up, and rebuilt with maxon surviving the explosion and building more than one airship learning from his mistake should another be blown up again. This is why they said the show won’t have any definitive answers for the endings of games. It’s the same with the ncr being destroyed and new vegas being shown. There are multiple endings with the ncr being destroyed, could be the legion, could be yes man and a free vegas, could be house because the house always wins, could’ve even been the brotherhood finally activating archemedis leading to their downfall. We won’t know for sure till they go much further into detail.

The Brotherhood defeating the Institute is really hard to see. The Institute has technology that can put them anywhere, everywhere all at once. They can replace essential and important people within the brotherhoods leadership structure with a synth. The institute’s technology is leagues ahead of the Brotherhoods.

The Institute's largest downfall was that it was a dictatorship run by Father and he had a soft spot for the Sole Survivor, giving the Brotherhood an opening. But the Railroad and Minutemen have zero reasonable capability to do anything close to what you can do with them in game, while both BoS and Institute are completely capable of acting and accomplishing their objectives on their own. I'd say Institute is most likely, because the one thing BoS actually needs the Sole Survivor for happens to he finding the Institute, while Institute has absolutely no need of the player.

It's hard for me to believe that the sole survivor would turn on The Institute given that Shawn was their son. Chances are that they lost, rebuilt the Prydwen to save face. And The Institute has gone back into hiding and has taken a non-interventionist route to avoid future conflicts. Or they could have been wiped out by a second wave of Brotherhood soldiers. Railroad and Minutemen are more ideas than they are factions, so chances are that they'd rebuild independently or be lost to time.

In the older lore, Im not sure if it's canon but after the events of Fallout 2 the Brotherhood built airships and sent them east. One of them crashed in Chicago and the survivors founded the midwest Brotherhood chapter. So even before Fallout 3 and 4 there were writers who made the brotherhood capable of building airships. Also the world of Fallout is literally built upon science fiction so it's best not to get angry over things that couldn't happen. Ghouls and their ability to naturally live forever is a prime example
