My father passed away from brain cancer, in 2009 (at the age of 63). He was born and raised in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. I never met a person with such a diverse flavor for music. He loved Tango, boleros, rock and roll, jazz, American honkey tonk, just to mention a few genres. One of his favorite songs was Greenfields by The Brothers Four. He would sing it to me, as a child. Just listening to this beautiful song, brings me close to him. Thank you for sharing.

Hi (excuse my poor english) but I have to said something here... I'm from Guayaquil-Ecuador (South America) I have 58 now... When I was a boy, every year after finishing school, my father would take my mother and her 8 children to vacation for 3 months to the beach ... and every year on those trips my father sang this song while he was driving his old Ford Lane '68 I guess (as well as: The Windmills Of Your Smile, Doris Day's Que Sera Sera) Throughout my life whenever I listen to it it is impossible to stop the tears in my eyes ... Thanks for share this beautiful and incredible video! Blessings

What a wonderful song sounds to my ears in 2018. I used to listened to this music some 40~50 years ago in New York City where I have lived for 18 years. I'm back in Japan now where I was born in 1936. Needless to say, there have happened many things, good and bad, and terrible, in my life of 82 years. But at least, I had a chance to listen to especially American and British good music.

Once there were greenfields kissed by the sun; Once there were valleys where rivers used to run; Once there was blue sky with white clouds high above; Once they were part of an everlasting love. We were the lovers who strolled through greenfields. Greenfields are gone now, parched by the sun; Gone from the valleys where rivers used to run; Gone with the cold wind that swept into my heart; Gone with the lovers who let their dreams depart. Where are the greenfields that we used to roam? I'll never know what made you run away. How can I keep searching when dark clouds hide the day? I only know there's nothing here for me, Nothing in this wide world left for me to see. But I'll keep on waitin' 'til you return. I'll keep on waiting until the day you learn You can't be happy while your heart's on the roam. You can't be happy until you bring it home, Home to the greenfields and me once again.

More than 30 years ago, one of my first guitar lessons was this very song "Greenfields". I played it and I grew up with it and almost everyone in Vietnam I hang out with all knew this song as "Dong Xanh" It was so popular. Now 30 years later, listen to it and the whole childhood memories came back; friends, family, a little corner of the city where I played guitar and sung with my friends. Even now every time I come back home, my little sister always makes me sing this song to her. What a wonderful song! Thank you so much Mark, for posting this.

I am missing those moments(crying...) now that we are on our 60's all I do is relate those moments thinking they would not come back.
