There's a lot more to Charles Edward than you said. He never wanted to go to Germany. He was forced to go when Alfred's son killed himself. I feel very sorry for a teenage boy forced to go to a different country and reinvent himself into someone others insisted he should be, primarily Kaiser William 2, his cousin.

Thank God for penicillin and modern plumbing. It's amazing how many kings died of dysentery while on the march. John The Bad, Edward Longshanks,Adam Fitzroy, The Black Prince,Henry V, etc. Etc. After they got ahold of the causes of dysentery which should have been obvious since all those royals died with their armies, they then had to face peritonitis and blood poisoning without the benefit of penicillin. Being royal was no protection from your doctors either, some who seem to have been serial killers from the suspicious doctor who attended the princes in the tower only to turn up at Henry Tudors side in exile once they disappeared. To the doctor who murdered George V and his son who had epilepsy and many others. He seems to have gallingly recorded his crimes in his diary.

10:40 Yes, it is Tsar Nicholas II. His wife, Alexandra, in front of him, holds their firstborn, Olga. Alexandra was the grand-daughter of Victoria, and since Alix's mother had died when she was only five or six, Victoria took a great interest in her education and would have her come and spend time in England. This is why Alix, a princess of a minor German principality, spoke such good English. In fact, Nicholas and Alix conversed and wrote letters to one another in English. So when during WW1, the Russian people thought of her as a German enemy, she was actually more English and felt that Russia had become her country since she had lived there for so many years. She did not feel German anymore at ALL. Nicholas is wearing a British military uniform (which he disliked b/c it was uncomfortable or too tight or something). For some reason, upon visiting another country, the royal men would dress up in a military uniform of the nation they were visiting. So when Nicholas went to Germany he would wear a German uniform and when Kaiser Wilhelm visited Nicholas on the Standart, he would wear a Russian naval uniform. Pretty silly because if you gained weight since the last visit the uniform would have to be altered or a new one obtained.

Queen Vic made the same mistake as queen Liz 2,stayed on the throne far too long and did little. Edward 7 did have a playboy image, if you insist on skipping the more important parts. He was the best and most influential diplomat Europe ever seen. He died early by today's standard because he did not have access to the advanced medical care we have (except the vax , which put us back to his era) Edward can make the French do things no one else can, he is the only one that can control the German Kaiser, a temperamental and unpredictable character. Had he lived a few more years , there might not even be a WW1. Edward would have snuffed out that fire faster than a fire hose. England found out well after Falkland war , the French had top secret codes for their Exocet missiles to deactivate it so it will not harm French ships. If there is a king like Edward, the French would have handed him the code on a platter and a smile. England now have this sorry excuse as a king.

Same with queen Liz2 the last 25 years, she was just too old to do the job. I know she is supposed to be above politics, but when foreigners and foreign religion are slowly chipping away at the foundation of your empire, and not a squeak from her. I think the mentality is to kick the can down the road for the next king. I fear after Charles, the Muslims may be powerful enough to declare the Church of England illegal.
