In light of the ideology driven politics and twisted leaders at the time...the fallout is understandable 80yrs later. After the Bolsheviks took over, it was going to be communist utopia whether you liked it or not and some estimates place Stalin above Hitler in innocent lives lost. I dunno...history of WW2 seems to have a lot of layers. But, watching Russia these days, and the other politics surrounding them from NATO in years past, I understand what Russia is doing. However, the pain lives on from their WW2 policies...but this isn't 1944 anymore and there are new global threats far worse than the present Russian government.

Warsaw has come to personify the unbendable courage of resistance over time. Under the gloomy backdrop of World War II in August 1944, the Poles, under duress, provided a beacon of hope. This reflects Thucydides's recognition of human character in the face of peril; individuals are capable of impressive bravery when confronted with life-or-death dangers. The Warsaw Uprising wasn't just a military clash but an illustration of Poland's repeated stand against subjugation. Nevertheless, Tacitus's suggestion that "they make a desert and call it peace" is unfortunately applicable since their anticipated allies abandoned them. The tenacity of Warsaw embodies more than just one nation's stamina; it's an ever-lasting proof to mankind's tireless battle for freedom and sovereignty as opposed to overwhelming hindrances.

Russians KNEW EXACTLY what was happening in Warsaw and DELIBERATELY HALTED THEIR FORCES so the Nazis could eliminate all the most militant and determined Polish political opponents of Soviet Socialism!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Warsaw was at EXTREME RANGE for British bombers - yet British tried to offer aid - This is why Russians /forbade British bombers from carrying food and weapons into Warsaw - the Brits needed to land in Russia to refuel so they could then fly home and Russians blocked that British attempt to aid Warsaw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thus only a few light loads of British aid got through to Warsaw before the uprising was crushed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And of course later on when the Polish govt in exile attempted to return to Warsaw from Britain - the aircraft carrying democratic Polish leaders CRASHED AND BURNED - very likely as a result of RUSSIAN SABOTAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are a lot of not entirely factual and/or truthful information about The Warsaw Uprising: 1. Soviets were in a bad spot at the time of the Uprising, so they were really not in a position to cross the Vistula in force and lend a hand. I believe they were ahead of their schedule and had no equipment available for crossing in meaningful numbers. 2. US and UK did lend some hand to the Uprising by dropping supplies from the bombers. However, they were mostly ineffective, because due to some things (mor on this later) the fligts were delayed and drops landed in the areas re-captured by Germans. 3. Stalin did not agree to allow the US and UK aid-carrying bombers land at Soviet controlled airfields for quite a while 4. Uprising was commenced due to the growing ant-German sentiments in Warsaw, fuelled mostly by Soviet propaganda and rumours of the closing front. It was not planned at the time it happened by AK leadership 5. Soviet propaganda was explicitly calling for an armed rise against Germans for at least several weeks before. This event is one of the rare moments in WW2 history, when every critic and every proponent has good arguments for their positions. Truth is it was as inevitable as it was misguided. Oh, and Soviets occupied Poland with explicit and agreed much earlier consent of UK and USA. Frankly, we had much better luck when aligning with the French than with the British and/or Americans... Time to finally take that lesson to heart.

Poland was treated disgracefully as the war ended. Escaped Polish fliers had found their way to England. They had techniques in the air unknown to British flyers, and they worked. The British took a while to first accept the Polish flyers and then to incorporate the Poles’ instruction into their own training. When the Battle of Britain took place in the skies above England, the Polish training came into play. The battle for supremacy in the skies was won by England, in part, because of the help of the Poles. The British acknowledged this. When the war ended, there was a victory parade in London. The Russians so hated the Poles that they asked Churchill to exclude the Poles from the parade. Churchill did just that. Then the Allies allowed Russia, a country that had decimated the Polish population during the war, to take control of Poland completely. The Russians had killed millions of Poles during WW II, and were bitter enemies. Poland didn’t free itself from Soviet subjugation until 1989.

Of all the people ravaged during WW2, was there any one of them who had it WORSE than Poland? First, they were invaded from both Germany and Russia and divided up. Then the Nazi's made Warsaw a ghetto for polish Jews and practically made the entire city a prison camp. Then they deported hundreds of thousands of them to concentration camps and ultimately, to their deaths. They fought back during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, only to have the ghetto destroyed. Only to fight again in resistance to the nazi's, with their best chance at freedom to come from the Russians (The same army that originally invaded them in conjunction with the nazi's). No help from the Soviets because Stalin wanted to get rid of any non-communist Polish leadership, the same reason for the Katyn massacre.

Most probably ‘pay back’ for when Poland back stabbed the USSR in 1920 during the Russian Cilvil War when both the Red and White Armies were engaged in Siberia.

A little exaggeration there. The distance between Brindisi Italy and Warsaw Poland is 2,176 km, not 13,000 km.

The Poles really couldn't catch a break. It's hardly surprising that they are now moving toward having the strongest army in Europe. Good for them I say.

I knew that story, but coming to think of it, it reminds me of Chinas struggle against the Japanese invasion. While the Nations military forces were fighting the Enemy, the Communists avoided Battle as much as possible. Why ? They were willing to risk the Country being taken over by the Enemy, if it meant they might have a chance to take power.

The reality is as always a bit more convoluted than a short video. For instance, the Warsaw appraisal was not endorsed by the Soviets and was indeed started to make sure that the Polish government in exile takes control over Warsaw and Poland - the one that was directly anti-Soviet. Moreover, at the beginning of the appraisal the Soviet forces were indeed much depleted and facing a threat of a German counter-offensive. The Reds (to be precise - the Polish army fighting within the Red Army) still attempted to cross the river but the Warsaw resistance which was supposed to make a contact with them did not show up. And so on. Which does not change the overall conclusion that Stalin used this mistake of the Poles to tighten his grip over Poland and that the Red Army could start the offensive a bit earlier. (Not as early as it is portrayed by a majority of the Western historians). On the other hand - was the blood of the Soviet soldiers less expensive? PS As regards the fierceness of the fighting- I am not doubting the courage of the Poles but how could that German general compare it to Stalingrad if he wasn’t there? I guess one have to take into account that he was reporting about dear him overwhelming the unprecedented difficulties, which does not stand for an objective assessment, huh?

The odious Stalin encouraged the Polish resistance to start the uprising, promising support from the Red army. But of course that support never came because Stalin wanted any potential armed resistance to his coming rule to be wiped out. May he rot in hell.

While your documents are good I can't watch WWII documents anymore. As a European it is painful as it is our cities that are bombarded to dust (not saying who's fault this is). For American viewers - imagine watching films of your hometowns bombarded to dust and in many cases your relatives as well. Sorry for this dark comment - I think it was needed as a Finn.

The Soviets were in no condition to take Warsaw during the early part of the uprising. They're northern and southern flanks were both east of the closest troops to Warsaw. They had just reconquered thousands of square miles of their territory and had obliterated Army Group Center. All that said there are a hundred ways they could have helped without risk to themselves. Stalin intentionally left the Poles to die in Warsaw for political reasons
