Amie Nicole Harwick, PhD (May 20, 1981 - February 15, 2020) was an American marriage and family therapist, sex therapist, and writer.
Harwick was adopted as a child. She worked as a Playboy model and dance performer to pay for her postsecondary education. She studied psychology at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, earned a Master of Arts degree from Pepperdine University in clinical psychology and Ph.D. from the non-accredited Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality, and later became a licensed marriage and family therapist. Harwick was a well-known therapist in West Hollywood, specializing in family and sex counseling. She regularly appeared on podcasts, TV, and her KZbin channel to discuss her work. She was the author of the book The New Sex Bible for Women: The Complete Guide to Sexual Self-Awareness and Intimacy, published in 2014.
At the time of her murder, she had started working with Pineapple Support, an organization of sex-work-positive mental health professionals that had been founded in late 2017 in the wake of a rash of adult-industry suicides.
Harwick and comedian Drew Carey first met at a party in the summer of 2017. Carey posted a photo of them together on Instagram with the caption: "The face of a lottery winner.” Within a year Carey proposed to her and they became engaged. The engagement was called off in 2018 and the split was reported as amicable. After her death, Carey told NBC that Harwick was "A positive force in the world and an unapologetic champion of women."
On February 15, 2020, Harwick was found under the balcony of her Los Angeles home, and later died at a hospital. The initial investigation found that she had been strangled and thrown from the third floor after a fight. The suspect, who was identified by authorities as her ex-boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse (against whom she had filed restraining orders twice), was arrested the next day and was charged for her murder with the special circumstance of lying in wait, breaking and entering, and home burglary. He was released under a $2 million bail bond and arrested again after he pled not guilty on April 16, 2020. His trial began on August 29, 2023. On September 29, 2023, Pursehouse was convicted of Harwick’s murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on December 6, 2023

I have wanted to meet Drew Carey for ages. I had seen him in interviews before he became the host of The Price Is Right. He has gone down the line pretty far, meaning that he has been through a lot of suffering. I can’t believe this happened to someone so soulful and seemingly loving. I guess because I felt after seeing him talk candidly about his demons that God would throw him a bone, so to speak. I might be cursing God after a life event/tragedy like this, or turning to drink/drugs. Do you know if he has spoken publicly about this incident yet?

Very very sad😢 I am a domestic abuse survivor. My stalker/pos..broke into my house and because I was armed I am alive today. I know the terror, I lived it. This should have been taken more seriously by the police I think. Just because someone lives in the Hollywood Hills doesn't mean your safe. its always bothered me that the roommate hears the sound of a body hitting the floor, hears her screaming bloody murder and instead of going to help he runs out the door. even if all he did was go to see and then run away when he realized the ex boyfriend could beat him easily, I would respect, but to just leave her??

He was overcome with fear. Not the desired reaction but a completely normal reaction nonetheless. You never know what you'd do until you're in that situation and knowing full well there's a good possibility you'd be killed too. Ultimately, he valued his own hide more than hers. He has to live with that.

Hard to believe he will be hosting The Price Is Right 17 years in July.. When I checked, he makes 300k PER ESPISODE! I don't know if its still like this but they tape 5 shows a day. WOW!! I wish him many more years on the show.. He was rightfully advised not to make drastic changes on the show right away, but do it gradually. He's stuck to a lot of Bob Barker's principals.

I followed this court case and even though this monster got life it still doesn’t amount up to what he did to Amie. She fought for her life but she had no chance. I remember when this story was profiled on one of the television news magazines. This is and was so sad. Unfortunately, I can still see the sadness in Drew’s eyes.
