This movie looks amazing! I love a well-crafted epic story. It's exciting to see Adrian Brody in another character-driven role - he always delivers. By the way, I had an unexpected surprise at TIFF - I bumped into you on the street! It was really cool to see you in person here in Toronto.

It'll be interesting to see whether Adrien Brody becomes the next Vivien Leigh/Helen Hayes in terms of getting only 2 nominations and winning both, with large gaps between nominations.

Actually vistavison is a bit larger than regular 35 because is 35 shot sideway horinzontally. But 35mm still but has more fidelity when blowed up to 70mm

Sing Sing is the BEST MOVIE of the year and deserves nominations in most categories. The movie was shot on 16 mm film, in 19 days, with a very small crew. The DP, Pat Scola should be nominated for an Oscar for cinematography because the visual look, the lighting, the film choice, all created the naturalistic atmosphere to tell the story. Accompanied with Bryce Dessner's score that sells the beautiful scenes and intimate facial expressions. And kudos to the director, Greg Kwedar, who allowed dialogue to be ad-libbed at times, which created the emotional essence throughout the film that tugs at your heart. The cast deserves best ensemble because 90% of the cast are the formerly incarcerated men that participated in the RTA theater program while in Sing Sing and that authenticity shines. And what can you say about Coleman Domingo.... he deserves the Oscar this year, his performance is perfectly understated, and he allows the other men to shine because this is their story. Well Done!! Also, Clarence Maclin and Paul Raci both deserve best supporting nominations. Their performances tie the strings that pull the film to its brilliance. Best movie overall in a very long time and well worth the emotional journey.

So I’m extremely excited for this film but I have to say even with all of the hate against the movie, Joaquin Phoenix in Joker 2 has a performance that can rival anyone in acting period. He did so much more in this film than even the first and he won an Oscar. Joaquin was absolutely incredible ! But again I’m very excited to see this and Adrian‘s performance 👍🏼

So basically, a critically acclaimed Venice premiered performance was given. One to look forward to and then be dissapointed when he will eventually lose the Oscar to campaigning politics, just like how Blanchett gave the performance of the decade only to lose to Michelle Yeoh because it felt good to call her an Oscar winner. 😢
@Theodora72 ай бұрын
Well there ARE a lot of people (like myself) who think Michelle Yeoh's performance was worthy of the win on its own merits, for the record. It was really close between her and Blanchett. But I agree that this film sounds a bit cold like Tár and it's true that that can be a disadvantage with the academy. But idk, because last year's winners (except Randolph) kind of go against that assumption so who knows
@axr71492 ай бұрын
I saw TAR, and while nomination worthy, I frankly don't see what was so extraordinary about Blanchett's performance to be called "greatest of the decade" (this is especially also true of Emma Stone in POOR THINGS, which I found to be hammy and reeked of "look at ME!" acting). The only ones deserving of the win for 2022 IMO were Michelle Yeoh followed very closely by Michelle Williams (THE FABELMANS), while Lily Gladstone and Sandra Huller were the only deserving contenders in 2023.
@murdockfiles940628 күн бұрын
You really overrate Blanchett's performance. Yes, it was an excellent performance, but hardly next level of anything like that. Michelle Yeoh was FAR better in many people's eyes

@murdockfiles9406 new york film critics, national society of film critics, los angeles film critics, London film critic, florida film critics, Chicago film crticis, Golden Globe winner, Critics Choice, BAFTA. Internationally renowned Volpi Cup. Literally Blanchett has given one kf the highest critically raved and supported performances of all time. Compared to Meryl Streep's Sophie's choice and Daniel Day Lewis There Will Be Blood. Yeoh was funny. She was never in Blanchetts league. She won bc Jamie Lee Curtis campaigned for EEAAO so well that it made the guilds inspired to vote for them. It was the shiny and cool pick not the best pick out of merit.
@axr714928 күн бұрын
@@SoulKnightKing Critics can also have their own biases too. Those wins for her only indicate what they liked. There are a lot of performances that won critics that you may be surprised by (Jack Nicholson in THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK and IRONWEED (both 1987) and Bob Hoskins in MONA LISA (1986) come to mind). Bob Hoskins in fact won literally every single eligible award except for 2 (National Board of Review and the Oscar), and he lost the Oscar to Paul Newman for THE COLOR OF MONEY. Conversely, Kevin Kline for A FISH CALLED WANDA did not win a single critics award and even the Golden Globes didn't nominate him, and the BAFTAs and the Oscars were the only awards bodies to nominate him (winning the latter). Marisa Tomei in MY COUSIN VINNY had a similar trajectory.
