Thank you all for your comments. Wishing everyone a merry Christmas. Also, I have updated the spreadsheet to include this meter.

These videos are fantastic! I am not an engineer but am learning a lot and enjoying every minute. Keep up the great videos. Thank you so much for taking the time to put these together

Man, you are like an engineers engineer. Stunningly good videos, really well thought out, super informative. I like that you lay out all the bad points as well as the good. Very honest, thorough reporting. Have a great Christmas!

Another great review Joe, very thorough! I'm impressed with Brymen as well, they've proven themselves with honesty and good engineering.

What I find really impressive is that they are offering to send you these even with the limited reach this channel has compared to the other ones! That's a pretty high cost per eyeball!

Yet, when reading on forums about meter robustness, there's a lot of links to Joe's videos, so I think they get their moneys worth. Pretty awesome that they are confident enough to send him the units as well.

I think in part it is because I have continued to stay in contact with them and they like how the tests are conducted and the data presented.

Don't underestimate the quality of the viewers on this channel. One can bet that other electronics KZbin channels will be watching this channel, and a lot of the other viewers may be influential in other ways too.

I have been contemplating buying the Bryman BM319 for motorcycle repair. This is by far the best review I have seen on KZbin. Thanks.

Your welcome. The only thing I really don't like about the meter is that it doesn't store ALL of the settings and the defaults are not the engines I would normally use it with. It's a good little meter otherwise. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4qZi5Z_g6tqgpI

I’m quite impressed with the response from the company about the concern, their acknowledgment of the issue, and their willingness to try to address the issue. May actually pick one up just because of that. I don’t really have a specific need for one as I have a few high end meters and scopes but I like to support companies with good customer service.

Thank you for taking the time to make this absolutely mesmerizing video ! Yes, i'm that hyped. Motorcycle test bench ?! Jesus Christ. Multimeter refrigerator ?! .... If i may suggest another chemical test - Brake Fluid. It's much more common to have Brake Fluid spills rather than Unleaded Gasoline, for example.
@joesmith-je3tq5 жыл бұрын
Good idea. I've though about using break cleaner as well.

Man, you're awesome. I watch your videos like a billion dollar Hollywood movie. So much information and a fantastic testing approach (i really enjoyed the chemical test). Happy to see Brymen response and looking forward for 869s life-cycling,

Great stuff as always! Nice to see that you now have a Brymen 869S to go to town on! But you showed your motorcycle emulator, then inside the your trailer with racing fuel and to top it off, you show a slick tire. Am I the only one that screamed "turn around and show the motorcycle!" when inside the trailer? :) Being raised on Stockholm Open, I'm kind of a motor head...
@joesmith-je3tq6 жыл бұрын
Jack, not need to scream. In a recent video, you may have noticed me riding my bike that's painted with an American flag. There is another video I made showing one of my old scopes decoding their serial data. Link below, maybe around half way through you can see inside the trailer. I run the engines during this video but the camera mic is not real good. I thought about running them when playing with these automotive meters but it gets pretty loud and winter is starting up. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmrTmquZrph6hbc

Hi Joe, great video on automotive multi meters really enjoyed the way test them. I am currently searching for one and found this INNOVA 3340 Automotive Digital Multi-meter and wondered on your thoughts or if you know anything about INNOVA multi-meters?
@joesmith-je3tq4 жыл бұрын
In this video's description, there is a link to the data I have collected. In there you will find data for the Innova branded meter I looked at.

WOW! It's beautiful how works this meter! I'm completely agree with the diodos and the memory. It's me or on the chemical test the cheap cen-tech is better than aneng meter? Nice test box, i couldn't avoid imagine that don't want to lend you the freezer xD Merry christmas.
@joesmith-je3tq6 жыл бұрын
You are correct, that Cen-Tech meter was not damaged with the chemicals I used but the ANENG was. I repeated the ANENG because it was the only one that had problems the first time I tried this test.

58:41 EVS-EN standard. I wonder why they chose to include the Estonian prefix.

If you have never purchased a standard, they offer them for a more reasonable price. www.evs.ee/?language=en-US

man your videos are very detailed i would like to know what tester recommended for the automotive line thanks
@joesmith-je3tq4 жыл бұрын
For an all around tool maybe Snap-on's MODIS. If you read through the comments, Fluke offers a DMM that a few people recommend. I don't have any experience with it.

I get that this is just for testing, but there's no way a real bike engine ECU would be dwelling modern coils at 8ms at 600 RPM, you can burn them out in minutes doing that.
@joesmith-je3tq2 жыл бұрын
I'll be sure and let you know when my virtual setup catches fire.
@fredio542 жыл бұрын
@@joesmith-je3tq Ha ha, well, that's not going to happen, at least, not on the bike one, unless I missed something. Extra question: The MSD based rig with the real sparks that you acid test your electronics with - is that CDI? If so that's the ultimate acid test and WAY worse than normal ignition :-D
@joesmith-je3tq2 жыл бұрын
@@fredio54 Yes, CD. See: www.mpsracing.com/products/msd/ig02a.asp HIL simulator uses a stock ECM but the loads are simulated. The ignition coil load is actually a single pot core with a secondary. This allows me to trip one of the ECM fault codes. Video for the All-Sun may be found here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5CbaqSle7KcrMk
@fredio542 жыл бұрын
@@joesmith-je3tq Oh wow, so my initial statement is flat out totally wrong and that 8ms is a factory dwell at low RPM? Incredible that they do that to the coils. I get that the duty cycle becomes very low but at the same time the heat generated after saturation when the coil becomes a dead short is massive and quickly gets out of control. Very interesting. Thanks. And yeah, CDI is a problem for standalone and OEM ECUs in cars, too, sometimes, as are solid non-resistive spark plug leads - both create horrendous interference/radiation. The fact that they work okay relatively close to that is a good thing IMO, I wouldn't expect much to keep working up close to that.
@joesmith-je3tq2 жыл бұрын
@@fredio54 I guess you didn't understand any of what I wrote about pot cores and such. In basic terms, that simulator does not have stock ignition coils inside. Of course, all of my electronics to drive the MSD as well as the MSD ignition itself run fine under these conditions. What doesn't work well is anything on the USB bus.
