Excellent drama series ! 👏👏👏One can really see the £1M budget for each episode : beautiful costumes, hair, sets, locations, crowd scenes. A superb acting ensemble, each actor played their individual role successfully. 👌👌👌I cannot praise this production enough !

The movie was so underrated! I first saw it in 1995 on Masterpiece Theater. I was smitten! I read the book afterwards and of course it was more detailed but just as wonderful. What is the name of the song played at the beginning of this video?

Disappointing, Why couldn't any of them be happily married? I stopped watching when Guy came back to ruin Nan's marriage which she never even tried to make work

Did you actually watch the whole series? Julius was gay. There was no way of making her marriage work. And he treated her abominably. Do you recall him forcing on her? Also known as rape. He was full of himself, and a bastard. It didn’t matter what she did he would never be good to her.

@@lorihuot2932There’s actually one of them who ended up happily married to her first husband, if you don’t remember. Lizzy Elmsworth, the lady who had twins. She married Hector Robinson. Plus Nan herself, though she had to divorce first, she ended up happy with Guy Thwaite. Plus Guy is actually her true love, it was her youthful indecisiveness and desire to stay in England that made her accept Julius (remember Guy went somewhere else to find his own fortune first).
