Ending scene from The Buddy Holly Story (1978), with Gary Busey in his Oscar-nominated title role. This was Buddy Holly's last performance before getting on the ill-fated plane to Moorhead, MN that night along with Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens.

I do not often cry by movie's, but this Ending made me cry. See how much fun Buddy, Ritchie and Big Bopper had on stage, and then they died. I'm German and in the German Version he was reading The text at the end with a sad Voice, and this get me so hard. I can't stop crying watching this. I Love this movie. R.I.P Buddy,Ritchie, and Big Bopper

I think its nice that the film did a medley of Buddy's greatest hits to end the movie with! One of my favourite biopics!

Great film ,but couldn't believe they had him playing a fender telecaster and then ended off with a large headstock strat that came out in the late sixties a monumental cock up when he was famous for bringing the Stratocaster guitar into rock n Roll music !

It was Garys own guitar. He played everything live and needed his guitar as he was used to it. Not a big deal. Great performance.

And the moral of this story is IF YOU ARE ANY KIND OF ARTIST MUSIC ACTING WRITING ANYTHING do not travel by light aircraft avoid any single engineer aircraft the number of artists we have lost due to plane crashes is quite long forget schedules go by train if necessary be safe

Did not even research fender as this strat was not even made in the 50,s with the large headstock it was introduced around 68/69 10 years after Holly died

I ws born decemeber 1958 never knew their music until later but still I say. Why the hell they had to take that bloody plane?! Yes I do know it was cold but do you not have any cloves, mittens and other winter clothing etc there in USA? Even in these days I have seen Americans going bare hands and blowing in their hands in snow. Weird country is a USA that I say a backward country . And I do not say RIP because I think that is weird too how long it took Americans to check out what had happen for Peterson's plane! "Look I think I saw a plane maybe going down. Now I am going home and sleep?" Who does that?
