Assuming your transmission is the DSG, get an R32 or R36 multifunction steering wheel from a wrecker. Just need to code the car to be able to use the flappy paddles, make this car much more fun to drive - when you want to have fun.

Sorry, I just posted something about your GTI...didnt know you got rid of it. Sorry to hear that. Since we're on the topic of Passat, let me share with you my experience. I had a 2000 Passat. It was the Passat and emissions scandal that really made me wonder if I wanted to go back to VW. Maybe 2000 was a bad yr for Passat, but during my 4 yrs of ownership, I had to : replace both CV joints, both flex exhaust pipes, never solved the mysterious power drain, replace the anti-lock braking unit, comfort control unit, deal with the engine light, leaky sun roof, wiper blade motor.shocks and control arms. Positive points: It did drive well, fast, comfortable and solid. I do miss it but not the headaches. Only tip I can give you is to maintain the sunroof seal and drain ports. Even todays GTI with sunroofs can leak. For me it wasnt so much the water stains or the liner pealing, it was the electrical modules that were located below the footwell. Water would leak in and drip onto the carpet. Below the carpet is where they stored the electrical modules. It rained so much that it flooded the computer compartment where they were fully submerged. There was a VW class action regarding the water egress 6yrs after I sold the car. I hope they relocated some of the modules away from the footwell in later models.

I would struggle to live with the 1970’s sideboard material. Could probably be changed easily. H&R coil over slammed on the floor, 19” rims, r line carbon fibre splitter skirts and an aggressive diffuser. A r36 steering wheel coded in and a stage1 remap also remap the gearbox and your good😜. Definitely a car with huge potential

I have a 08 Volkswagen Passat VR6 4MOTION WAGON SPORT sitting in my garage right now, runs and drives but not good....It has tons of small problems unfortunately. I have a 2016 Golf Sportwagen and a 2014 Passat TDI SEL as well.

As far as I know yes, I can’t think of any other VW engine that they’ve used, especially recently, that’s a 3.6 and not a VR6
