Very nice looking guitar. Love the finish. And, sorry, but I'm not with you on the binding. I'd leave it as it is. It's gorgeous. But, to be honest, it doesn't sound like a Les Paul to me. In fact, parts of your first clip, playing on the neck pickup, were reminiscent of Badfinger's Baby Blue. Pete Ham and Joey Molland both used SGs for that. And, to my ear, this EART does have more of an SG sound to it than a Les Paul. If that's the sound someone's looking for, it is a great sounding guitar. I'd also miss having separate volume and tone controls for each pickup. I'd rather have them before adding coil splits. I'm disappointed that you've gotten away from tearing down the guitars and allowing us to see the guts like you used to. I'd like to see you get back to it. That said, thanks for showing us another interesting guitar.

I have 5 EARTs and I love every single one, they’re all really good guitars, including an LP style with binding which was in the same price range as this model, so the lack of binding here is a stylistic choice imo. I bought a EART guitar on Amazon and the frets were staggered. One or two frets would be 1/16th on an inch from the low E and then one or two frets would be around 1/16th or more from the high E. So I sent it back and got another one. When the 2nd guitar arrived, I was not able to set the intonation. So I sent it back. Third time was the charm, now I have a really good roasted neck and body with stainless steel frets, it's great. But from the time I ordered the guitar until the time I actually had a playable guitar, was about one and a half months. Return shipping was free because I'm a Amazon Prime member. If you order directly or from another suppler, you might be stuck with the return shipping.

I own two EARTs, both of which had QC issues. My advice is ONLY buy thru Amazon Prime. It's not that I love making Jeff Bezos richer. These guitars are shipped single-boxed and as such are more vulnerable to damage en route to you. EART CS is notorious for offering "$5 off" [which is an insult] for "cosmetic issues that do not affect playability". These instruments, though they can be a very good value [IF you receive one without QC issues or damage], are sold without warranty. If you purchase thru Amazon, you have recourse if you get a damaged or defective instrument. BTW, neither of my EARTs has a serial number. Which, in conjunction with no stated warranty on their website, tells me that acknowledging defects in materials or workmanship isn't part of their business model.

Just got my EART EGLP-610, I was giddy with expectation! Lovely finish, good pickups, great knobs, superbly rounded stainless steel frets. But oh boy QC did a sh*tty job on this specific guitar! - 3 tuners were not fastened properly (I could even turn the nut with my fingers on 1 of them). - The open high E string buzzed like a sitar, had to file the nut. - There was litteraly NO neck relief, I mean nada. Nill. Rien. - Ifound 8 spots where frets were not quite level, with my fret rocker. Lucky for me, I could still set the action low enough for comfort without buzzing frets or dead notes. I must admit I had similar issues with my Squier Classic Vibe 50s, except fret levelling was better. If you're not intimidated by a little setup work on your instrument, go for it!

I agree with your comments about what added features would upgrade the guitar. I do like the stainless steel frets on this guitar, and that alone is worth a lot, but I think Epiphone Les Paul's in this price range are pretty good, and if you're willing to spend about $800, their prophecy series are really good. As for the cheaper guitar's, all in one make some nice instrument's in that price range, too.

Lots to like. Love the light LP body shape and the neck. The Alnico 2's work for me. I agree with others here that the binding isn't important. It doesn't have LP-like controls either, so the binding just follows suit. Most luthiers who deal with cracked bindings would agree. 😀 I'd trade the stainless steel frets for nice 18:1 locking tuners any day, assuming you get the same gorgeous fret ends. I wonder if it's Plek'd? Not sure if this value proposition is better than some of your other LP knockoffs like the Xaviere XV-500. Big price difference.

I've got an Eart. I've got a purple strat style one, with stainless steel frets and a purple flamed veneer. For $300 on Amazon, it's honestly fantastic. After I set it up (barely had to do anything) it's perfectly in tune. The action was already very low without buzz when I got it. I still prefer my MIM Fender Strat, but the Eart is way more affordable. The pickups are a bit microphonic on mine, but the hum isn't bad at all for the single coils. I've got a humbucker in the neck and it sounds pretty good. I might change the pickups some day though. If I change the pickups on a guitar with already good pickups, I might put the ones I took out into the Eart. The frets are weirdly amazing.

This would be a dope guitar to mod up, add a Gibson styled pickup selector in its usual place and then replace the blade with an on-of slide switch like you see on Jazzmaster, add that coil split and a phase, really cheap mods for a cheap guitar and make it play like a million bucks
@thisguy29732 жыл бұрын
You’d have to make a route to the switch in its normal spot if it’s not already there. On Les Pauls, this route is cut before the top that’s carved is applied. There isn’t a tool I’m aware of that’s small enough to fit where a pickup sits that can bore a hole to a new route. I suppose you could cut the route out of the the back, then fill it in with another wood, but that’s a woodworking-level job.

Very nice! It surprises me these days, seeing these companies put effort into the details that the entry-level Gibsons and Fenders often neglect. I have 2 Gibson LPs that needed a full fret file and finishing and an American Tele that had uneven and rough frets. Those were straight from the factory. It's not bad, and generally, you get what you pay for. However, if the guitar is designed properly, and the parts are all made well, installed properly and tested then that's going to be better to play out of the box than a top shelf parts Installed poorly. I may pick one of these up as sort of a beater(not really, but one I don't have to worry about too much) and maybe customize a bit. Great video!
