You might like some prog and a lot of jazz fusion my guy! Several Zappa lineups have great horn sections, Grand Wazoo reminds me a lot of Budos Band especially. Van Der Graaf Generator is one of my all time favs and never get mentioned much, the sax player would often use two at once and they just have such a unique sound especially the singer’s voice and the way they play keys/horns.

So damn true. I have all of their albums as well and each song grooves into each other so well. No bombs anywhere. Quality through and through. I have only seen them 5 times but this is a great side of them as they stretch out a lot of times. They really take a huge psychedelic approach live. Incredible.

Comparable bands actually provided live music to dances in the 40s, 50s and 60s before "canned music" became common, and dance music subsequently turned more and more electronic. A nice throwback to those times. They really now what they're doing, and I'd say it isn't that easy to make engaging instrumental music.
