Bdubs, I haven't gasped at a build in years. The Horticulturary™ is absolutely stunning, and the editing used to show the building process made my heart smile. Magical. This would be an excellent build to talk more deeply about the design process! Specifically how you took the initial shape, added color and shading, and fleshed out that g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s interior.

I was also thinking that the tree blended in too much with the bridge in the background, but I wonder if it'll pop once you put a building between the tree and the bridge. Could go with a darker building and get that contrast popping.... Anyway - love everything you do. So creative. You've been inspiring me for years in my own creative journeys. So thanks, Bdubs!

I think the petrified tree could work better as a centerpiece if it were mostly white, kind of like the petrified tree at Timberstone Castle. Instead of just having one white streak of diorite, invert it to be mostly white diorite and quarts with some grey in there as contrast.

i’ve been in quiet awe of your building for a while now, but allow me to gush here for a moment because. holy crap. first of all, i LOVE that flock of birds. i can’t stop looking at them, they are just such a gorgeous detail that adds so much life and realism and aaaa!! your attention to details like that- little things that we get so desensitized to in real life- just add so much. also you’re so right about leaving fog on. i think your overall approach to building, at least from what i can tell from this series and hermitcraft, is so… artful? it’s hard to explain, but your thought processes in regards to things like color theory, framing, patterns, movement, etc just cements the fact that i’m watching a master at work, and it shows in what the end results are! i also love the life and storytelling that is just so rife in everything you build. it’s in the details like the slanted flower stand. the little pipes that make up the watering system. the “daylight” filtering into the basement (???!!! love that one especially). i’m so amazed by the fact you’re even able to come up with those, let alone find a way to make it work in minecraft!!! your mastery of these details combined with your knowledge of how to structure an overall scene just add up to a masterpiece. chef’s kiss. i think you’ve said before to be inspired by studio ghibli, and one of the things that makes those films so beautiful is the simultaneous suspension of reality and the romanticizing of otherwise mundane, daily details. you have mastered that!! argh the appreciation you give to those details is so good, and really sets you apart!! finally what you said is the core of everything: the dedication you have to breaking up patterns and changing up the blocks you use, because it really does pay off. it makes it seem more lifelike, adds interest like you said, but also makes it so that when there are patterns or symmetry, it’s so much more deliberate. it makes it so you spend more time genuinely drinking in a build, rather than just giving it a cursory look and being able to fill in the details because it is predictable. gosh everything is so gorgeous. watching your stuff is so much fun AND has irreversibly altered how i approach building and even art in general, thanks bdubs!!!! uhm. don’t go getting a big head or anything though, but maybe it’s too late for that :P

Have you considering adding any "plot lines" to your world building like an author or dungeon master does? For example: I would LOVE to see you build different villages from rival kingdoms... Like for example a middle eastern inspired one in the savannahs or desert, an aquatic kingdom, a frozen one, an underground one, or different fantasy race themes like elves, dwarves, dragons, etc.

Hi Bdubs, first of all I am a huge fan of your content! =) wonderful builder! Potential idea for the tree. Shape looks great, but if you didn’t want to go with a petrified tree you could go with a tree that was struck by lightning. The tree is also placed in quite an open area so it could make sense. Our tree outside my townhouse was hit by lighting causing charing to the center of the tree where it hit and noticeable burn marks but the surrounding of the tree still looks quite normal. This way you could still use your coral and maybe mixed with coal blocks or mud to give a burnt mark. Still gives the tree some history and significance to the town but won’t blend into your backdrop quite as much.

This is incredible. Bdubs! You have outdone yourself. The herbacultarist might be my favorite build ever. The petrified tree looks pretty nice. Maybe a less gray base, non gray buildings behind, and maybe even some adornments and ornaments will help!

I used to just really love B dub's personality and build style, I stayed for all of that and the EDITING! Spectacular stuff.
