This song is indeed heart-wrenching, speaking about being torn between staying and letting go of a relationship. It ran the whole range of emotions, from hurt and depression to anger to resignation, and Morisette executed these flawlessly.

Well that's one of Mori's specialty, she sings not to Impress her audience but to connect with them. I don't know anyone else in the Philippines who pours so much emotion and embodies a song as much as she is. Everyone else are vocally impressive but they seem disconnected to what they're singing, it's like they're just there with one thing on their minds and that is to impress their audience. Most of all, Mori doesn't lose grounding when she's belting, she sustains that bass in her voice even though she's singing very high notes. Yeah others can reach those high notes too but they lose grounding, their voice becomes so thin that it doesn't sit well in my ears. Thanks for the reaction 👍

This song "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw" ("I Want To Let Go") was originally sung by another Filipina singer, Sheryn Regis. It later became part of the OST for a Philippine TV drama series "The Broken Marriage Vow" and the show producers chose Morissette to re-interpret the song. Her version was made viral and trending, in part by the popularity of the drama show, but moreso because of her delivery, incorporating her signature techniques like the squeaks and growls, by adding more intensity and grit, and her gorgeous belts. It was so popular that you will see many videos where other renowned Filipino singers like Regine Velasquez, Sheryn Regis herself, and Jona Viray, performed this with Morissette in many other occasions. 🥰 It so happened that Wish did not put subtitles on the video, that is why non-Filipino reactors like you could not understand what she is singing, although most reactors would be close to interpreting the meaning of the song through Mori's skillful delivery, conveying emotions, story-telling, and build-up towards that breathtaking last minute or so.

On your own time and for your enjoyment, please listen to the live band version of this by Mori and 3rd Ave band. You’ll be pleased I’m sure of it. I also watched a vlog by her leading up to this performance and I believe she was under the weather. (Mowienatics, pls correct me if I’m confusing this song with another.). See if you can see where she made the changes here. But as a long time observer of Mori, she almost never sings a song the same way.

Yes, I think this is the one. She took steroid shot so she could sing; she has many concert engagements before this and her voice is tired to the point that she's barely even able to speak, but she still sang for the wishbus and it's insane how much willpower she had used to sing under those conditions and still sounds amazing!

I mean come on, you heard how she speed ran those last belts in the last part of the song. Her voice sounds exhausted but sheeesh that's amazing how she pushed through that and finished the song.
