You are lucky Seamus is so good on the halter, having a leadrope loop around your hand is potential disaster if an animal starts pulling/panicking. So never loops, always back and forth so your hand doesn't get caught in the rope if things go wrong. Rope burn is not fun, but getting dragged is way more problematic.

for a season or two, father had a deal with the local abattoir and vet, he would PD the cull cows at the abattoir, a few would be in calf, we bought them home and calved them, gained quite a few charolois cross calves.

Tom is there any chance the bull has broken his tailbone at the top! Usually affects the back legs tho and swell up! But have seen it before usually caused by bulling a cow that’s maybe 2 big and if the cow reverses when he’s on her to pushed his back and down onto his tail head! Just a thought lol
