Own the same bike, bought 89 new from stock, drove 44 thousand Km since. Under restoration and upgrade, takes more time!

Great clip, I have an 88 Bumble Bee with 49km It came with factory extra's, panniers, kickstart, hot grips, rev counter & clock, got it in 1998. It failed shortly after buying, crank failed front main bearing location pin fell out bearing moved cut oil flow to big ends and run the bearings, not good factory cock up. I've kept it all these years and plan to get it running this year. Crank rebuild means unrivetting the weights so as to be able to grind the shaft. I have done some good prep and lots of new BM parts. Interesting the wheel rims you have installed. My Cross Laced Spokes need redoing and it is a tricky specialised job cross laced rims. I know Woody's Wheel Works US do it. I need someone in NZ or AUS. A friend whos a wheel builder had done a set but will not do it again. The high guard is nicer. I have a vapor blaster so easy to dress up those dirty parts. Bike is in fairly tidy condition, it was imported to NZ from Japan around 98. She has been one of those gunna do projects 25yrs + dreaming lol 😂

We deal with Woody’s on a regular basis, you can mail them your vapor blasted hubs and they’ll lace em up to brand new factory rims for you. It’s not 1998 anymore, unfortunately, however, the world is just a day a way, I wouldn’t be put off by mailing internationally. I’m genuinely not sure I’d bother trying to save that motor, replacements are plentiful, it’s much nicer rebuilding one that hasn’t suffered a catastrophic failure.

I have already rebuilt the crank, the engine will save very easy, it is overall very nice. I plan to check the balancing. Being a former engine reconditioner it is a pretty simple for me to overhaul the motor, they are very basic engine.

The 88 is much more pleasing to the eye than the new one.

Nice job, bike looks fantastic. What footpegs did you use and found to work with the Sieben Rock shifter arm?
@RoughchildMoto9 ай бұрын
Honestly these footpegs came on the donor and we liked the fitment. With regards to Siebenrock shifter, I’ve always had to extend it so I don’t have to curl my foot inboard. Their lowered footpegs work well with the shifter, if you extend it.

I’m loving this build! Which anodized black rims are those? Also, I thought I heard “GN” for the source of the decals, but could not find them in google. Can you share? Thanks!

These are Sun Rims from Buchanan’s Spoke & Rim and the decals are from Gian at Heritage Stickers
