The problem with doing it this way is you can't really put the brakes on to stop a carp getting into the snags. I've used a similar rig in the past but using a hollow elastic with an extended length of braid (about a foot if the finished rig length is 6 inches) threaded up the middle, this means you get the constant tension which is great for avoiding hook pulls on barbless but if you need to stop a fish in its tracks you can. One important thing to check is whether the material is buoyant
