The Burtonverse is one of the most talked-about movie theories out there. But how much truth is there to it? Subscribe to our channel: goo.gl/ho3Hg6
Tim Burton is one of the most notable directors, writers and producers in the world today. His style is incredibly unique and distinctive - you can spot one of his movies from a mile away - and his catalogue includes offerings ranging from Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands to Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie. Intriguingly, some fans have theorised that all of Burton's original movies are connected and do, in fact, exist in the same universe (note that this theory does NOT include movies that weren't Burton originals - so there will be no mention of the Batman movies, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sleepy Hollow, Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Alice in Wonderland or Planet of the Apes, for example). In this video, we'll delve a lot deeper into that theory. The full list of movies that will be included here are Beetlejuice, Corpse Bride, Edward Scissorhands, Frankenweenie, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Vincent, while some of the characters who'll be getting mentioned include the dogs Sparky, Zero and Scraps, Sally, two different Victors, Dr. Finkelstein, Mr. Burgermeister, Finis Everglot, Lydia Deetz and Jack Skellington. We really want to know what you think about this theory - did Tim Burton really plot all of this over the course of a thirty+ year period? - so make sure you leave a comment in the relevant section below the video once you've watched it! And remember to subscribe to our channel to ensure you never miss any of our great videos in the future!

I have to admit that the Victor in Frankenweenie and the Victor in the Corpse bride do look extremely alike but are they really the same person? I mean unless The Corpse bride takes place in a sort of Amish town the movie would have to take place before Frankenweenie. Same thing would have to go for Mr. Burgermiester and Finis Everglott. I think the more realistic way of looking at this would have to be that Victor and Finis from Frankenweenie are descendants of the characters from the corpse bride.

Let us ignore the fact Corpse Bride is set in Victorian England, the 19th century, while the rest of his films are all clearly set in the 20th century. That completely undermines this whole theory.

Corpse Bride takes place in the late 1800’s, and frankenweenie is somewhere from the late 90’s to mid 2000’s. How is it possible for the victor in frankenweenie to grow up to be the victor in corpse bride?

It is the same guy First, Frankenweenie takes place. Then, Victor Frankenstein accidentally time traveled back to Victorian England and was soon adopted by the Von Dorts who soon changed his name to Victor Von Dort. Victors personality changed because he is in a completely new timeline and is scared, and because he landed in a timeline with no electricity, he could not fix the time machine to get back to his original timeline. 10 Years later, Corpse Bride takes place. Victor later dies of old age and becomes the pumpkin king in Halloween town The pumpkin king remains in Halloween town until the 21th century, thus the nightmare before Christmas happens
@LordSkelleton13
@LordSkelleton13 7 жыл бұрын
A way this could be a "plausible" theory is if Victor Van Dort was a distant relative to Victor Frankenstein (a great great uncle or something). The same for the mayor and Finis Everglot. Also you have to tie together the three versions of the Afterlife: the Netherworld, Halloween Town and Land of the Dead. Jack may also be a relative to both Victors. I mean, this way it could be more believable than the weird jumps in time that this theory suggest.

Most of the actors and actresses involved with Tim Burton, wether its live action or just voice acting is because they understand his perspective of things. Which is why Johnny Depp is seen in so much of his films and even voice acting Victor from Corpse Bride. As well as Frankenweenie was a resemblance of Tim's past. Though I do agree with a lot of these theories

Some parts of the theory like the dog part could make sense, but the whole Victor from Frankenweenie is the same as Victor from Corpse Bride. Doesn’t make any sense since Corpse Bride takes place in a Victorian time period, while Frankenweeine takes place in 1930 or 1940 time period.

Okay I can poke a hole in this Theory right near the beginning that pretty much destroys it. Is there any claims that Victor from Corpse Bride and Victor from Frankenweenie are the same person however given the level of Technology seen in Frankenweenie versus the level of Technology seen in Corpse Bride it's clear that Corpse Bride takes place years before Frankenweenie meaning that unless Victor has that Benjamin Button disease that causes you to age backwards they cannot be the same person. Proof of this just look at the fact that they have fully functioning cars in Frankenweenie where is there still using horse-drawn carriages in Corpse Bride.Theory busted

The title is very misleading. You claimed you were going to cover all his films and how the were connected, but only covered a handfull of films. I was very interested to hear how Batman, Planet of the Apes, Alice in Wonderland, and others were connected. How does Mars Attacks affect the Burton-verse? If biopics such as Big Eyes and Ed Wood exist in the Burton-verse then what else from our world exist in the Burton-verse? How can science and magic coexist in this universe so consistently, and what about different dimensions such as Wonderland, Halloween town, ect can coenside. This theory raises alot of questions that wouldlve been ibteresting to explore.

Okay guys, I understand if you want to poke holes, but don't repeat what thirty other people have said. I get it they are different time periods, don't you people have anything better to rant about?

The issue with only comparing characters that look alike is the fact that considering they came from the same person, obviously, the art style and characters might look similar

I would think the figures for the stop motion animation movies take a lot of time and effort to make and so he probably just saved them/reuses them/changes them up a bit. Or if new ones are being made then that's just his style, every artist has their own style hence why some of his characters look alike doesn't mean they're connected.

Their is a massive hole in this ferry. The korps bride is set in Victorian times and franken weany is set around the 1950s, so victer could never grow up to be the older Victor.

But, Viktor from “frankenweenie” takes place in in a Time with modern Technology (maybe the 50s-90s in our universe) while Viktor from “corpse bride” lived in about 1800 and “the nightmare before Christmas” takes place in late 1990- today...

Uhh Dead Mom is from the beetlejuice musical. Not the live action movie. The musical writers don't even have anything to do with the live action.

The theory that Victor from The Corpse Bride is the same Victor from Frankenweenie couldn't happen because Frankenweenie is set at a later time period.

I think the theory makes more sense if Victor from the Corpse bride was the great grandfather of Victor from Frankenweenie, because the Corpse bride takes place in the Victorian era way before the time of Frankenweenie.

A lot of the stuff in this make sense until you think about when the movies take place

This makes sense until you realize that corpse bride and frankenwinnie are in two different time frames. One is in the 19th century and the other in the 60s

One problem though, that always disproves this theory. Frankenweenie takes place in around the 90s. The Corpse Bride takes place in THE VICTORIAN ERA.

Lydia wasn't adopted; she actually IS Charles Deetz's daughter (with his first wife RIP). The movie confirms that Delia is Chuckie's second wife.

Well the biggest problem here is the time scale. That the pivotal character goes from a 60s looking town with cameras and cars to grow up to being in 1800s Victorian England

u guys forgot Vincent apperance in beetlejuice television cartoon where he propouses lydia (spoiler, she sticks with bettlejuice instead). And theres a line in corpse bride where Victors name is changed to Vincent. Its about a guy Vincent who likes science and had a dog, he became king of niddle land (the land of the dead/halloween town) and only achive true love once got married. Skinny guy with a dog a bride and dead people in the underwolrd are the similarities between the movies....we're actually seeing vincent life and afterdeath

I now want a Tim Burton Avengers-esque movie with all of his characters teaming up. Call it “The Burton Team” or something like that. Idk. Who agrees? It’d be so hype to see a movie that had Jack Skellington meeting Edward Scissorhands. I would pay so much money to watch that.

I figured you'd say Batman wasn't included. If he was, it'd open up a whole new can of worms, most notably that by extension, Batman and Robin would be connected to other Burton films, as well as the possibility that other DC movies of that era were connected.

There is one major hole in this theory. The whole plot of frankenweenie is that sparky was brought back to life and stayed alive.

I guess the part of Victor and Sparky being reborn in Halloweentown as Jack Skellington and Zero makes some sort of sense. Jack and Victor are both lanky and skinny and Zero and Sparky look very similar.

If this all lines up, this means Victor had died by being burned alive presumably because of being lit on fire at the beginning on Nightmare Before Christmas and the fact that he is a skeleton.
