Abruptly summoned back to his old Watts neighborhood while serving his tour of duty in Vietnam, young black soldier Mike Simm investigates his brother's recent death at the hands of two racist cops and becomes the unlikely voice of moderation between the enraged black militants who want to riot in the streets, and the violent white extremists who are just itching for a race war.

Those little kids at the beginning must be around my age. I turned 8 years old in August of 1971 and I'm now 56. Ironically, my family and I lived in Los Angeles just down the street from where the filming took place. We were at 97th street and Vermont. In this movie I see 54th street and Vermont. I see landmarks that I remember from those days in this movie. Wow

Quentin Tarantino tells a story (in his new book) about seeing this movie in an all black theater in 1972, in downtown L.A., when he was eight. Everyone was screaming insults at the screen throughout the film.. and his favorite insult he heard was right near the end of the film (when a little kid was yelling "The bus is coming, The bus is coming!") someone in the audience screamed out "Then why don't you get on that bus and get the F%&k outta here!"

Strange how these so called "Black Life" films were so rare that we only saw them once, if at all. They had substance and integrity, and nowadays we have so many Black films that you couldn't see them all if you tried to, but the majority of them lack positivity or craftsmanship. Anyone else remember another film from this era, with a similar plot, a "power to the people vs the pigs" story where the two sides have a huge daytime battle in an alley in downtown Los Angeles? I saw it on Bravo or Sundance in 2003 and would like to see it again.

Not true. Not true at all. KZbin has a policy that allows us to do what we do while protecting the rights of the copyright holders. There is a lot of content that doesn’t get seen, that we want to rescue. We are sharing the fruits of 80 plus years of collecting and knowledge with the belief that it will spark dialog and help people see their place in the world differently. The downside is it conditions the belief that everything is free and you are entitled to it. Money is power. It’s important you use money to support what you want to see. If there’s a movie you are excited about and it’s not on KZbin, but you can legitimately purchase the stream, please do so. When it’s time for us to release original work or come do a lecture in your town, i want you to buy a ticket and spread the word.

This is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen, I wish I’d could leave the comment to just that. I found this film under a clip from the 1975 Boston riots, it also had to do with bussing segregation. looking into it a bit I found that Joe Biden of all people took the same side as the segregationist (not to imply he took their side but the same side), it’s sad and ironic that in the same toxicity that the riots existed then (where Caucasian people were protesting and rioting against African American families integrating in their schools) we had the riots of 2020. So much Respect for this film Incredible how they did the music for the movie I hate to compare apples to oranges but it has a mystique similar of the film “Requiem for a dream”.

This film is I spired to Marvin's what going on. Asi watch the film and listening to the album at the same time ,I still feels the movement rolling inside and dance my very own. The bus is coming until you don't get up your seat. This is you film, the back up string music adding the what's happen, brothers to flying highs. This movie shows that i must say yes of letting bus still coming. Thanks Horace jackson about know a real black life is .
