Good movie showing what the reality was for returning Vietnam vets - and it was worse for others. They got paid less than $1,000 for a year of active duty and came home to disrespect and deflated veteran benefits, a recession with few jobs. For us, Vietnam was something we saw on television. For the vets, Vietnam was real life in color with memories and feelings. What a mess.

This was one of good old memories of watching movies with my mom! Not to mention I appreciated the truth telling of another heartbreaking perspective of the cost of war. Blessings to you and yours!

I'm a child of the 70's and was in elementary school when this came on TV. This brings back a lot of memories. My dad was a Vietnam vet and I listened to him randomly talk about his tour there. I remember seeing the trailer on TV and told my Dad about it. I was too young to understand the concept of all of it. For me it was just a movie about Vietnam and he was over there. He sat and watched it with me. He randomly commented throughout it saying "Yep that's how those kids come up to you. Through it all he watched it in silence. Now I look back and can carry that special memory of watching that with him.

I was in grade school when they filmed this in Manila. They made the settings look like Vietnam. I was watching the shoot and I was approached 3 times and asked to do a small role and they said I have a dialogue. I was just a kid and had no idea of what was happening so, I said no. I still recognize some of the places. It's really great to see this movie, finally. Thank you!

OMG I remember this movie on television I was about 10 years old and I remember my mom made us watch it! It made me sad but i was a sensitive child anyways. Television was so damn good during these times, this was around when ROOTS came out and The Day After. It's a very emotional subject and I remember my mom was concerned that her brother may have left a child back in Nam, it definitely opened up room for conversation about the behavior of our military men! Thanks for showing this hard to find movie.

I watched this film when it premiered on ABC I believe in 1977/78. This film changed my life as a young man into an older, caring human being. I had the pleasure of meeting Paul Winfield in New York City in 1986 while he emerged from a side door from a play he'd been in with Denzel Washington and Ruby Dee called "Checkmates". He was kind, and personable making a great impression on me that I've never forgotten. "Green Eyes" always keeps my tissue supplies extremely low and my appreciation for the plight of children in Vietnam and third world countries front and center. Great film!

What a powerful movie of what we did to the people of Vietnam and the children. It reminded me of all the street children that would run and buy our beer and sodas for us when I was in Vietnam in 1970 and 1971....

Paul Winfield great actor. I liked him in the Martin Luther King documentary playing King. I am glad Paul Winfield found his purpose in Vietnam.

I didn't see this movie. I was all of 5 but I recall the trailer/ad for this and it haunted me. Watching this now reminds me that some of the made for tv movies back in the 70's were really quite stellar and high quality.

Even though this movie carries a tragic theme, there are some comedic moments. But yeah, the whole movie's just jarringly sad.
