As an American, it sounds so odd to me to hear about "cooking tea!" It's like, why would anyone cook tea? So "dinner" isn't used in England at all? Such a talented family!
@kathrynrobinson16244 жыл бұрын
The use of tea, dinner or supper to refer to the evening meal in the UK depends on where in the UK you are
@AnnaHazel174 жыл бұрын
We do say dinner, but tea is probably more common :)
@susansmith78314 жыл бұрын
It depends! For some the midday meal is lunch, for some it's dinner. For some the evening meal is dinner, for some it's tea. It can depend on region, class, family preference, or how fancy the meal is!
@susanpearson-creativefibro4 жыл бұрын
In the average home Dinner is interchangeable with lunch or tea, usually referring to a main meal of the day. Tea is a more informal evening meal. Except in upper class homes, where tea is afternoon tea involving drinking tea and eating something like a sandwich and a scone. This would be in addition to luncheon and dinner. Think Downton Abbey...
@malvinfuller4 жыл бұрын
Tea I always think of as a more northern word, and dinner southern - I never use the word tea, always dinner, but the Marsh family are more southern than even where I live so it might have just been a musical choice of word, they might have moved south, or it is more regional than even I know! I live in Essex and think they live in Kent.

I have been an entertainer all my life , Music , and theater, and performing arts. I think you guys are not just talented, but with the right direction ...very marketable. I know that's probably not your goal but you remind me so much of the family vocal groups in my youth whose voices were so well adapted to blend. Groups like the Osmonds, The Cowsills, etc... If you are this good with minimal post production, I can only imagine what you can accomplish in a dedicated studio .I so look forward to each bit you post . Keep on making musical happiness. I still cant help but wonder what your dog thinks of all of this. He must be amused and confused.

Wow! After this, I really hope you got the takeaway! This is just SO brilliant! Btw, here is Australia, we use dinner or tea but never supper. Dinner can also refer to the Sunday lunch. Thanks for adding some fun into people's lives at such a rotten time in our history!
@smc19422 жыл бұрын
Those new to the Southern States of the USA can get confused, so here's a little help... "Dinner" (for us, from "Diner"; where it's eaten.) is Lunch. "Supper" is the evening meal. Breakfast is the same! Your "takeaway" is our "take out"; same word used whether you picked it up, or had it delivered. I've always been amused how we all speak English, but used different words for the same item. Even here in the States, some say"soda", others "pop", and in the South, it's "coke" whether or not it's Coca Cola! "Want a coke?" "Sure!" "What kind?" "Dr Pepper." Very normal down South! 😁 The different slang is what makes me laugh the most! When I learned the Australian slang "Technicolor yarn" I almost fell out of my chair laughing! That's hysterical!

I appreciate this rendition and the unique parts done by all your family (this is my favorite light hearted song of yours/well done by all), but I also really appreciate your vaccine advocacy/public health advocacy through your tweets and the Hallelujah song and also the message behind Amazing Grace. It sounds like doing these songs have been fun for your family, and thank you for the joy you are giving so many people. I hope everyone is staying safe and well.

A brilliant, delightful rendition of one of my favorites -- and I'm old enough to remember the original. Here in my part of New Hampshire on the other side of the pond, our midday meal is lunch, the evening meal is supper UNLESS you're sharing the meal with friends, going to a restaurant or adding wine, and then we call it dinner. 'Takeaway' is called 'takeout' here but it seems it should be called 'bring home.' I'm 76 but wondering if you'd be interested in adopting me!

I've already shown the kids (grade 3/4) some of your other videos during lunch eating time. They'll be thrilled to see that you have done a parody of the song that they have just learnt. You even have the same rhythm pattern happening on the clave that I got my students to play on Djembes last week. :-)
