The BYU Musket Fire Mess - Part 1: The Valedictorian Speech that Started it All

BYU faculty and staff have been subjected to a costly purity campaign in recent years to get everyone in line with the Church leaders about gender and sexuality. Even spouses are now required to be faithful and active in some cases. This current bout of cultural warfare may have been sparked by Matt Easton's valedictorian speech, which was later openly criticized by LDS Apostle Jeffrey R. Holland in his famous "musket fire" speech to faculty and staff two years later. This series establishes the recent history leading up to the issues reported from BYU recently.
