I agree the rear end is hideous. It is a complete mess. Other than that I think it looks great. It is almost like they got to the end and ran out of money. And NO I don't want to have to replace a rear end on a $60K+ car with any aftermarket rear which usually end up looking like even more ass.

That Corvette in the thumbnail looks insane. This is what the ZR1 (hopefully) should look like. The car, especially the rear looks like the Ferrari FXXK. Kudos to Chevy again for the new C8.

@135iN555 жыл бұрын
That render has a much nicer wide body than the previous Z06 render, which only rolled the fenders. I did not like the rolled fender look at all, as it didn't match the rest of the angular body. It's funny that we're still guessing so much after the reveal.
@c2jones5 жыл бұрын
I didn't perceive the rendition as a Z06 or ZR1 attempt. Instead, as indicated by the 🇺🇸 and driver name, it appears to be a rendition for the IMSA, LeMans and SCCA variants. Corvette has dominated several major motorsports series in the recent past and I could easily visualize this taking the 24 Hours of LeMans right out of the gate. 🏁🏆
@135iN555 жыл бұрын
@@c2jones It would be quite an accomplishment to win a 24hr endurance race with an all new model. Well, the engine internals aren't new, through the transmission is. The C8 looks nice, but I don't think looks give any useful indication of performance or reliability. It does more or less delete 60 years of development. What will really be interesting is to see how it stacks up against that C7 racing success. Its going to be hard to beat a C7 with all that development behind it.

Good info! Love the dual clutch! I'm only getting 200ms shifts. This c8 is going to feel unreal with 100ms shifts. I'm assuming the c8 is going to have an access panel behind the seats to work on the engine front-end and accessories, like Ferrari. Otherwise, it's going to require that the engine be dropped out and that gets expensive. If you get talking to Corvette Mechanic, maybe he has seen some things that would shed a light on this.
@HorsePowerObsessed5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I hope for Chevrolets sake that they have such an access panel or yes, repairs are going to get expensive quickly.

OK, now I'm confused. My understanding was this motor was running a dry sump oil system. With that you check an oil tank for oil level vs a conventional oil pan dip stick. Also, it would require an externally driven oil pump & I don't see that either. Now I really wanna know what kind of black magic GM has come up with!

I think it's great that the dry sump is able to be checked without jumping through all of the hoops the current setup makes you go through.

That input shaft looks similar to the 4l80 output shaft with more splines. A super beefy and ez connection with a yoke type setup on the engine crank. Seems like a simple way to connect the engine to the trans and not be a weak point.

Sorry I'm late to the party, but the notification bell must be vacationing in the Florida Keys. lol Great upload Justin. There's an "oil tank?" So the engine oiling system is not a dry sump setup? Paul is THE Corvette Mechanic and works out of a Connecticut dealership. He'll be at Corvettes at Carlisle in case some of you gear heads want to question him face to face and I'm sure he'll be hosting his usual seminars while there. Watching these two videos, it's now more apparent than ever as to why GM is requiring it's dealerships to send their mechanics to school for the C8 as well as the dealerships spending the money to purchase proprietary tools to work on the C8. Save the Wave.
@HorsePowerObsessed5 жыл бұрын
All dry sump oil systems have an oil tank somewhere. The C7 has a tank on the passenger side fender. It basically stores the oil away from the engine and in a tank instead of an oil pan under the engine like traditional setups.
@petercarey68835 жыл бұрын
I have the dry sump on my GS, but I look at it as more of a reservoir than a "tank." I want a tank! Of course it'll probably cost me $80k to $90k to have one. LOL
