This unironically is one of the best versions of this type of game. Instead of making you run away the moment of something happening it actually engages you pretty well with its horror. I like the aspect of movement being the thing you need to press the button on as it allows the other moments to shine and not be something you just immediately skip past. This game got me jumping a few times. Very good horror game.

From what info i gathered, a simple misplace of an object/an entirely new object being in the cabin does NOT automatically mean the cabins haunted, Only time the cabins haunted is when somethings actively moving or moves for a brief period of time. Okay, what I made out of the lore: The parents (mostly the mom) were abusive and the kids were trying to make it out. The father was there, but seeing as he’s always just sitting at the table he was likely more of a bystander. The daughter tried her best to get help by calling 911, running away and either getting caught (chased by the father) or coming back for her brother out of guilt (based off what mom said in the basement), and then eventually getting sick of it and just taking her brother outside and leaving the furnace open. The first time we actually see her implies she must’ve blocked them in, as later on we see the parents searching for something (maybe a key) as the house is actively burning. I thought that the scene in the bathroom implied that we were playing as a grown up version of the daughter who eventually made it out of the woods (either with her brother or alone). I don’t know what to make of the demon at the window but maybe the house was haunted prior to the family and the mom was possessed🤷 I thought this game was super cool, definitely one of the scariest anomaly games imo

You’re probably right though, since the 911 operator seems to be coddling the caller more. I imagine a 6yo wouldn’t be able to describe the abuse correctly and would get brushed off like that.

You can even see it in the company name written inside the elevator that they make realistic horror cabins. So the cabins are supposed to be spooky and different each time. I have about twenty minutes left in the vid, and my theory is that you’re supposed to be failing. Number one, I can’t imagine the dev put all this work into the story and expected you to be able to blow through it in 8 cabins. Number two, I think the old lady you play as was the little girl, and now she’s stuck in her own personal hell inspecting the cabin over and over, always coming close to finishing but never actually getting there. Spoiler Edit: at the end it seems like she finally comes to terms with the event and goes to heaven. “Go back to your family” implies that the rest of them will be there too. Maybe this was purgatory and it was her punishment for lighting the fire. But ultimately God forgives her and allows her into heaven because she was only a child when she did it.

You can complete all first 8 cabins without failing. It's like getting into multiple theme park haunted houses and figuring out which of them are actually haunted. But even without that context the game already CLEARLY states that "movement" means it's haunted, nothing else. A lot of the haunted stuff are so easy to miss. It's not the game bugging out or purposely failing you, you just have to be way more observant. Spoiler: there's more than 8 cabins. After identifying 8 cabins correctly, you finish the first part of the game and then you get 22 more and it just gets weirder and weirder.

When it comes to the whole movement thing. I'm pretty sure since its a "horror cabin factory" you can think of it like every cabin has different models. It might be a little different with layouts and different figures but until something is moving and you physically see it, it's not haunted
