Thank you for sharing this video with us. I doubt that I will ever have the chance to climb Mt. Shasta. Your video allowed me to have a small taste... Again, Thanks.

My pleasure, BBQDad. Thanks for watching. Mind if I ask why you might not have the chance to do so?

Glad you had good weather. Would have been nice to see the descent (should've left the snow board at Helen Lake).

Yes it was the best weather of the week! I agree leaving the board at Helen Lake would have made things much easier, but I didn't want to risk it disappearing. As for the descent, it was an ice ride from red banks to the car - never edited it. But since you mentioned it, I may make it a late part 2 to this. I appreciate the input John, and thanks for watching

Is there any crevassed, glaciated terrain on Avalanche Gulch? Any need to rope up for glacier travel?

wow what a rush that must have been! so you use diamox?
@outerskirtshiking81412 жыл бұрын
Ed, it was quite invigorating, especially with the wind. I've only heard about Diamox; IIRC, on this trip I mainly used advil, caffeine, and possibly some L-arginine. I'd like to add - since this trip I've avoided advil/Ibuprofen unless absolutely necessary, as well as high amounts of caffeine without food (such as pills by themselves). -The diet during this trip was very "acidic" (super processed, on-the-go foods, gels, caffeine in different forms). -If I'm not mistaken - Ibuprofen stops the production of prostaglandins (prostaglandins inhibit acid production). I believe this mixture is what led to some fairly heavy esophagitis for a week or two after the trip. Another ingredient may have been overeating when arriving back in Shasta, and then sleeping shortly after, allowing all the stomach acid to reach the esophagus. This is much more information than what you asked for but, I hope it might be of use some day in helping prevent potential esophagitis =)
