@@kelvinonealgaming not only that, attention to detail is amazing. The weapons are accurate and even if one notices, in the first 2 africa levels the US soldiers have like an armband with the US flag. There were also destructible buildings in the tank mission, you can collapse a tower on top of a Flak 88 for example. @@wertywerrtyson5529 The Standard PS2 released in 2000 and the PS2 slim was released in 2004 the latter which i had with COD big red one around the same time as him. I was 5 when red one released so the slim wouldn't of been old at the time plus at that age thinking about consoles in the way of newer and better isn't really thought about. The ps2 was the biggest selling console out of all others so that's why it held itself through the years from popularity even when newer and better stuff had arrived. I think as well it was just a different time back then where newer and better wasn't a ingrained thing into people like it is now with tech. The PS2 console and games for the PS2 Continued to be made until worldwide production of the PS2 ceased on the 4th Jan 2013 which is weird to think about.

The 1st Infantry Division being the unit you're in, a lot of the battles following D-Day, a Jewish wisecracking best friend, nerdy glasses wearing know it all, BAR gunner with a thick accent (Texas here, New York Italian in CoD: WWII), stoic hard charger Sergeant, and a by the book CO (not often seen in CoD 2: BRO, but still present)

I've always wanted a game inspired by that very level! I always played it so much as a kid and it's the very reason why I'm a big fan of the B-24J to this very day. Anytime I can use it in a game I just get instant nostalgia and I always love to see it in books about WW2 and such. I'd definitely love some sort of WW2 game inspired by this level and by this game overall some day. Man, that'd be amazing! I know there are some games where you can control a B-24J but imo none of them give me the feeling that COD 2: BRO did back in the day. Some come close, but aren't nearly as fun as this level!

I replayed this game so much when I was little, much more than finest hour. This game had the closest thing to actual characters in early cod games and I remember being like 8 and crying when Brooklyn got killed. Despite having some terribly aged controls and other aspects of the actual gameplay. The mission diversity is really good. The B-24 mission in this is basically what gave us Black Cat's in World at War and is leagues better than the OG cod's B-17 mission in United Offensive. The tank mission in this game IMO is better than Cod 2's simply because its third person. But Africa, Sicily, Belgium and western Germany are all fairly unused locations in the cod WW2 games and WW2 game in general so it's great to see them in this game and done with a relatively great amount of detail for the time and scale of this game's development. I also love hearing the actors from band of brother's voice acting in this. I remember watching the development documentary in the main menu quite a few times lol. But again, as a kid I found it gut wrenching watching each of your squad members die throughout the deration of the war. Especially the one in Sicily. The way he's mercilessly gunned down was frankly upsetting in a way I can't really describe or compare. Honestly, I just miss how authentic these games use to be. A lot of hard work and dedication went into this game, and you can tell.

The Flying fortress level was INSANE. A good precursor to Black Cats. Also the Italy mission Operation Husky where you could carry a browning M1919 machine gun for the first time. Definitely under-rated.

This was my first CoD game ever, it got me into the series as a kid, I thought the characters were all fun and well fleshed out, and you wouldn't believe my shock when I first beat the Africa campaign and saw that there was a whole other map worth of levels to go through

Dude. I was 10 when getting this game. Mark Hamill does the narration. Im so happy someone else loved this game as much as i did. I remember the graveyard and Kelly was going sicko mode. I remember popping that baby open after baseball

Remember when I got this game when I was a kid. My dad took me to a local pawnshop to get a game for the ps1 my sister had. Instead he called my name and asked me if I wanted the GameCube they had, so I got that and big red one that day. Played the hell outta it to, never had a memory card so I had to replay it from the start every day but I didn’t care lol.

Big Red 1 was my first COD game as well. I played this game ad nauseam and can qoute some of the cut scenes. It was made when the devs really cared about story and the connection to the characters. Like when Bloomfield dies on the Sigfried line mission during a mortar strike when trying to clear the barbed wire is touching. You can hear him saying, "I might actually make it home from this lousy war..." on multiple occasions in different missons leading up to that point when he literally says it right before being KIA. It really does make you think of all the real life people that didn't make it home. Such a great game and OST.

Fun fact of war for anyone interested The plane sound were made with air horns as an form of mental warfare, some historians say when soldiers heard that sound they would panic and be unorganized and easy to kill. Almost the same deal with the katyusha.

This game is my childhood. I playes it over and over again. Plus the D day mission is fantastic. Hell the other missions are battles we never seen in world war 2 based call of dutys anyways!! I miss this game so much. I also completely forgot about the Military channel cuts! Man I miss that channel too, it used to be so good. Top Tens and Future Weapons were banger shows. I remember every Thanksgiving was Tanksgiving and they would say "Tank You!" Which I still say today lmao man time flys.
