If anyone is going to watch this, for a project or your own purposes, then i would recommend for those who don't stay focused for that long (like myself), Course Hero provides a summary on each of the chapters which you could watch before or after listening/reading each of the chapters. The animations and detailed explanations in the short time really help to understand the novel. :)

Yet another wonderfully performed classic! Your manner & style, your intonation and interpretation of various character's voices, your reverence & love of the source material and, above all, your ability to lead & captivate the listener, significantly enhance the experience. Thank-you for sharing your gift with us, Mr. Smith. I eagerly await more.

Girl, is you koo-koo or is you high? Hahaha! Seriously now, are you merely trolling? If so, mission accomplished. If not, we have a formidable problem here. Of course you're entitled to voicing any opinion, which allows me the opportunity for rebuttal. I'll try to be brief, ahem: All artistic endeavours are inherently subjective: music, painting, sculpture, acting, dance, literature, etc. Some appeal to many, others only a few. There is no right or wrong here, naturally, only varying degrees of appreciation. That given, please consider the following possibilities. 1) Perhaps it's the subject matter. This novel will not be a favourite of someone who doesn't like outdoor adventure stories or dogs. Most of the people who've enjoyed this novel have not lived in or visited the far north, have never owned or known a sled-dog or a dog sled or have ever known or tried to be a gold miner, voyageur, remote rustic settler, etc. Yet they find the story very appealing, sometimes enthralling. This is almost certainly due to London's masterful way with words and (as you cleverly observed) Mark Smith's excellent reading style and presentation. 2) Perhaps it's the time-frame. The Klondike gold rush occurred in the late Victorian era. Other popular novels from the same era include Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, The Awakening, Frankenstein, Adam Bede, Tess of the D'Urbervilles, and Lady Audley's Secret. These are all considered to be great works, all written by women (except Tess, whose heroine is a woman) and are all considerably longer than The Call of the Wild. It's goes without saying that many other popular literary works are far longer than this one, from as old as Hamlet and Don Quixote, through Moby-Dick and Lord of the Flies, right up to anything by G.R.R. Martin or J.K. Rowling. in short, brevity does not in any way connote quality. 3) Perhaps you're too young. Don't get me wrong, Lida, this novel has enjoyed widespread popularity for over 100 years among readers who are under the age of 18. I'm referring to your 'generational youth'. It may be that you've never known life without high-speed digital communication, smartphones, on-demand video streaming, drive-thru fast-food, 30minutes-or-free pizza, and so many other technological achievements that anyone over the age of 50 grew up without. This endows old farts like me with an innate patience which is perhaps alien to you. This innate, subconscious patience allows us to meditate or contemplate things without fidgeting nervously. Likewise, it allows us to leave the room without our smartphones (or even to leave the house with it!) and not break into a cold sweat or a full-blown panic attack. It even enables us to occasionally do nothing. Nothing except breathe, for minutes at a time, and even enjoy doing so! I know, loopy right? We like the first "Jaws" and "Alien" movies because the monster is not shown onscreen until well past the midway point; the reason is that our minds are innately accustomed to formulating and conjuring images that are subjectively far more effectively frightening than anything overtly shown to us. It also allows us appreciate classic literature. I'm not bragging about my generation or dissing yours, Lida. I'm merely making an observation and offering it as a possible explanation. Regardless, you listened to the entire novel (presumably) and I commend you for that. Perhaps in the future you'll develop an appreciation or even a love for cleverly interwoven words and phrases, brilliant imagery and great animal characters. In the pursuit of this I humbly suggest either, "Watership Down" or "The Wind in the Willows". Both are magnificent and neither are boring. Thanks for your time, Lida, best of luck.
