Thankfully the force unleashed is still viewed pretty positively, but yeah. I was one of the 20 people who really enjoyed playing days gone, and his acting was probably what pushed it over the edge for me.

I love how when he's talking to his men, he's visibly on edge, worried. But as soon as he sees Jacob, he switches back to his warden persona, refusing to show any weakness to an inferior. It's a really great detail and adds more humanity to him.

Also he’s quite respectful towards Jacob when he first meets him, but when the warden has Jacob arrested, Ferris’s attitude completely changes.

Yeah, he's been streaming the game, it's been alot of fun to watch despite the game being kinda disappointing, not bad, just kind of a let down. But yeah, Sam's character design was so good, just use his face, and give him some sweet armor and his acting and you got gold. Then they barely use him and by the end they turned him into a generic looking bulky zombie dude. Such a waste.

That last jump scare was so bad. Honestly this game was more gore and suspenseful than scary. Nothing but jump scares. Low key disappointed in Glen scare wise. Especially since Dead Space was a pretty horrific game.

You do have to consider that EA basically stole his creation, which is Dead Space. So to consider the fact he needs to find out what lines he can and can’t go over without EA getting pissy is a fine work. I feel like TCP is one of his first efforts at that.

Yeah, the game wasn't bad, but it was incredibly disappointing, it had some tense moments but it was just way too easy, the glove mechanic was so op, it took any fear out of the game cause you were always in control. Game swarms you with enemies? No prob, here's 6 fans and spike walls and explosives on the ground. You never had to worry about one on one encounters cause you can just dodge everything with no timing needed. They wanted to make a action survival horror like Dead Space, but the survival and horror parts are so weak you're just left with an ok game that's not even that violent or gory compared to even the original Dead Space, it's just more detailed now. It come across less like a spiritual successor and more like a knock off, which is sad since it's from the original Dead Space creator.

It's not jarring, it's just more noticeable because everyone else's performances are so subdued, and I don't mean bad either, but that's how you make a character stand out in games, if he acted just like he would do on screen then it'd be flat. It's not even over the top really, he just put more energy into his lines cause he was basically the main antagonist.

Sam Witwer is an amazing actor and for characters like Darth Maul who has hate as the source of his power it makes since for him to try hard. Cpt. Ferris is a guy with basically all the power in the prison. Someone who that level of power wouldn’t need to be so dramatic.

@@hopelesslyoptimistic8231 Have you ever talked to people in real life, or even just in video games? Lol His performance was pretty normal for the circumstances. Are you forgetting the Warden? He was way more out of place in the way he talked. Sam had a few parts where he talked in this game, when was he a mess of over the top emotion? The first two scenes with him are normal, the writings the only thing that's off with the game, not his performance. When he's giving orders to his men and has to stop to deal with our character, his reaction is what you'd expect, everything is falling down around him, his men are dying and prisoners are escaping. He's angry and frustrated and the new guy shows up in his office. How should he have played out that scene? Later, he's infected and becoming less and less human, should he be just talking normally like he's not becoming a giant mutant thing? Lol He stands out because he's putting some actual emotion and character to his character, everyone else is just reading their lines. Not that they were bad in any way, they were just average. Nothing they did or said stands out.

If nothing I think the game is a lesson in why publishers should just let devs get on with making the game as they want to and not rush for release dates. Had this one been allowed to release as intended it would have been amazing, I reckon. I mean it's still good, though I seem to like a lot of games that ended up being released early. I like it anyway and I look forward to the DLC that'll carry the story on, Ferris or not (preferably in the affirmative though). I can just imagine Ferris would have made an excellent recurring antagonist had it been longer.

wtf are the guns shooting, airsoft bbs? I swear they sound pathetic and they seem to have almost no effect on whatever they hit. In dead space your weapons packed a punch, and you could see their power in how limbs would come flying off with even your basic plasma cutter.

this character had potential but it got too hollywood with the whole "I've found my potential, you are my soulmate" type shit. If his motivation was purely "I'm not letting what happened to me happen to anyone else" after the control tower scene and receiving his "powers" he would've been a cool wild card in the story. The misunderstanding in the control tower actually kind of had some weight to it. Him turning into a prodigy for transformation or whatever is really dumb. I imagine that soldier wouldn't go through with any of this nonsense after horrifically transforming like that. with the way he punches you in that death cinematic he would be such a cool character if his motivation literally just was trying to end you because he wants to save other people
