The Callisto Protocol - UEVR (WIP 6DOF First Person tests)

Just trying this out for the first time and showing along with explaining some of my workflow of doing the first person attachments. Will probably do another video of just the vanilla game in third person with a controller as well. Does seem like a potentially good base for further modding though!
Okay in Native Stereo in that riot mode. That orange horizontal flickering from some UI element can be disabled by turning down the antialiasing CVAR.
Looking through everything and couldn't find any kind of 'CurrentGun' type property as using the Children Property you run into having all the weapons overlap somewhat and might be worse during the long run.
The flashlight seems to be slight off on world scale as well, otherwise some bare bones here of what could be a good base to work off.

The only thing I can say about Callisto P is that I literally dragged myself through the whole game just to go back and play Dead Space again. I hope VR brings som fun onto it.

I bought the game just to play it with the Vr mod though I'll probably play it in third person as it was intended to be played. First person for 3rd person games doesn't always work too well IMO.

Yeah think third person will be best for the first playthrough! Just uploaded another video on third person. Some areas are very nice to be in first person though.

@@waifu_enjoyer I am watching it as I write and it looks great in 3rd person; I don't mind playing it like that, it's still very immersive though first person really adds even more immersion and it's the best option for VR IMO but both views are great. Wouldn't it be awesome if you could map a button like R3 to switch views on the fly? You could explore in 1st person then press the button and switch to 3rd for combat or other stuff. Asking for too much probably, I'll be happy to play it as it is. That being said, when you switch to first person in the video it really makes a difference, nothing's in front of you blocking the view and you can enjoy everything as if you really were there but like you said, for a first playthrough I think the original view in 3rd person is probably the best choice. The fact that you can still move the camera and adjust it to your own preference is amazing.

@@Gonzax we do have shortcuts to switch between saved camera slots. It doesn’t do “states” though and might take more work and not be as smooth as the current camera offset switching. Something I hope for as well as would be good to quickly go from a 6DOF motion state to default third person with the same speed I switch camera offsets. Yeah if I’ve played a game before I might change it to first person when I know there isn’t going to be combat or a cutscene. Some games like third person shooters like Aliens then it’s not so much of an issue keeping it the whole time. Will try and ramp up retests as we get up to New Years. Some big new games like Tekken 8’s PC demo in a couple of days. Then all the big UE games next year hopefully everyone will be testing with me on release as well!

@@waifu_enjoyer It's amazing the amount of options this mod offers. To be honest, a simple VR camera to put me in the world would be more than enough but the more options the better, of course. Being able to tweek the settings, camera, etc is really big. Once this is out some people are not going to see the light of day for a while. I have a pretty big list of titles myself that I bought exclusively to be played with this. Actually I stopped buying games even on sale because I don't like to rush through my library, I want to enjoy them so I prefer to take things calmly and not overwhelm myself by looking at the to-play list. Thanks a lot for all your testing, by the way, especially the videos, I watch them all when you post them on the Flat2VR Discord and the're very very helpful not only to see how the mod has changed and improved all this time but also to make purchasing choices. Much appreciated!

After watching a few videos today, I had a question. 1. If you can't see your wrist when holding a gun, does that mean it won't be visible to other multiplayer players? Or is it visible? 2. The VR controller seems to be well-made at 6dof. Is this possible in fighting games too? Have you thought about this?

Only encountered one game, Aliens, where the VR motion was seen by others. Only when the host was a VR player. Normally no one can tell you are in VR. These first person and third person games, mainly shooters. We are attaching on to existing game mechanics. For example objects that shoot or a gadget of some kind. Fighting games they don’t isolate hands and feet. It’s not like blade and sorcery. You’d be changing the game entirely. At that point you would be better off inserting the meshes into another game entirely. Fighting games like Granblue, Guilty Gear, Soul Caliber and Tekken it’s amazing just to be in VR and play normally with a controller.

Looks like a mouse but it’s a pointer like you have in VR games connected to the touch controllers. You can use a mouse or a gamepad though if you want.
