I can tell you that property is not owned by Chinese. Foreigner can be ownership of property start with 2nd floor (by law). Diamond island is owned by OCIC Company (Local Company). They've built villa, flat, rent and sale space land for constructing the trading building. Many rich local bought the villa, flat...and they rent to the Chinese people (Got the better monthly rental fee). That's why they put the 3 languages Khmer, English, Chinese on their sign. Visited 5 years ago and all I can say is that the improvement in less than a decade is really impressive! The cleanliness I'm seeing in your video, is just, WOW! We stayed back then near the National Museum and the Palace. It was a beautiful place but it was quite dirty back in 2017. Hopefully this improvement can be seen in their historical sites' security. That they'll be more stricter in the museums. I mean improvement in security to protect the displays. Most of the tourists we've seen in the Nat'l museum were touching fragile and very valuable artifacts, imagine thousands of years of history! But other tourists were just really disrespectful. Even taking photos when they didn't pay to get that access. So hopefully this is also one of the things that they've improved. Can't wait to be back. Thank you for giving us a glimpse ❤️

Diamond Island or Koh Pich has a very sad history. In 2010 during the Water Festival 347 people died from a bridge tragedy caused by a human jam. The bridge has been removed but they have built a memorial there for victims of that tragic night.

Koh Pich Diamond island invested and build by a Local bank Canadia, Im one of supervisor engineer there. The Chinese letter on every sign putting by Cambodian for the Chinese investor and tourist who flood in to Cambodia. Most Cambodian now choose to learning Chinese rather than English.
