Let's work out an imaging problem for a simple single lens camera. Where do we align the lens and film in order to focus the image? Physics with Professor Matt Anderson

As an amature photographer, this one was really interesting for me. I can now imagine what is happening when I turn my focus ring. Plus I always wondered how auto focus work. Now I can imagine the computer quickly checking signals from various points on the sensor and seeing what changes happen to calculate optimal focus of light.

Yep, good stuff these cameras. Cheers, Dr. A

I still use a film camera, and this was kind of cool to see. With my lens with multiple elements, I wonder if it is just one lens that moves, or if all 4 move. Really cool to see the principle behind it.

Good to hear. Yes, in a real camera there are multiple individual lens elements within one housing - what the camera industry calls a "lens." Cheers, Dr. A

Are you writing inverted? Impressive

@@bronkolie🤦♂️ lol. I don’t know what’s more brilliant haha. That’s why he appears to write with his left hand. I see nurses writing inverted all the time on windows to convey a patient’s information to others outside their room. So I assumed others do it too
