The Canarsie Line: The Overpass and Elevators at Livonia Avenue

A very nice job done on the Livonia Avenue Station on the L train. I remember back in the 1980s, when Livonia Avenue Station was one of the worst stations in the system. What would really be nice, if they made a free transfer between the Livonia Avenue Station to the Junius Station on the 3 and 4 trains.

Right now, only a free MetroCard transfer exists between the two stations, but the eventual plan is to connect the stations.

A few years ago when I first heard of this overpass, it was supposedly a way to connect the BMT L line with the IRT 3/4 line. Now I see that there is no such connection and wonder why all the hoopla as the overpass is no different than was the old underpass which I used decades ago. Perhaps there will be some way to ultimately connect the two el systems some day (?). Thanks for the video.

I think that’s the end goal. I hope that does happen. But with the flyover south of Junius Street on the 3 line, I wonder if the old platforms would be demolished and new platforms would be built at the overpass…

The plan is to connect the two stations, but I’m not sure if the overpass would be connected.

@@Bklynkid52 I hope so, they are taking a very long time with it. I feel like they prioritized other projects in other neighborhoods first and left this one alone. They got a big project in Flushing and they already worked on a connection at 62 st and New Utrecht where the D and N meet. I feel like that took more work. Right now this looks nice but it’s kinda pointless if you already have the underpass so they might as well try to connect the overpass, because otherwise they could’ve just built some stairs or an escalator at the end of the foot bridge connecting to the Junius street platform. Probably would have costed a lot less time and money.
