I do understand your appreciation for the dark canaries, they don't instantly standout like the bright, clear birds, it's when you look closer and see the depth of all the colour layers that make up their feathers do you see their greater depth of beauty. At least that has been my own experience with two green hens I have. One has glossy feathers which enhances that further for me

Fantastic episode Matt👏🏼 With the outdoor flight, may I suggest breeding the pair of native Bullfinches in there. It will give the hen plenty of room from the cock if he’s agressive and hopefully a more peaceful area to go to nest 👍

Excellent as usual, Matt, but the chaffies are gone. I'm on the lookout for Bramble finches, but I may have to settle on chaffinches. If you know of any one selling them, please let me know.

Thank You for sharing. I have a female canary that has been breathing hard for the last 2 years . I have treated her with Scatt . But that's not helping . My wife got the canaries but now she's gone. I love the birds but no one to help out here. Maybe You could give me some advice on what to do for her ? Thank You so much .

As a beginner, I wanted to ask you, how you catch your birds without stressing them?
@TheCanaryRoom3 жыл бұрын
Key is to shorten the cage as much as possible, so I’ll pop a divider in mine, then remove perches, be decisive but gentle!
@imeprezime90493 жыл бұрын
You catch them as many times as necessary and they will get used to it. Just try to do it gentle and without sudden fast movements. After some time they won't even run away from your hand. Its called taming.

Please explain the difference between flighted and unflighted .
@TheCanaryRoom3 жыл бұрын
The term refers to the moulting of flight and tail feathers, young birds (bred last year) would be unflighted birds as, although they have had a moult they haven’t dropped their tail and flights. Hope that helps ?

My canary looks like its had a bath and dried hard feathers, been like this forever tried antibiotics no help any ideas
@TheCanaryRoom3 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm, tricky one without seeing it. If the overall condition of the bird is a little off they can look scruffy as they don’t preen themselves properly. Give it plenty of baths, or a really good spray first thing in the morning and see if that helps
@allisonrodulson61473 жыл бұрын
@@TheCanaryRoom Thank you done all that , no response to anything I've tried, thought it was air sac mite treated it but still no joy, clearly not 100%, but eats and started to sing yesterday just looks awful .
@imeprezime90493 жыл бұрын
@@allisonrodulson6147 that's probably the side effects of breeding two non intensive birds with each other. (Parents of your bird) That may not be the case, but messed up feathers ( twisted and not normal) is the first association that comes to my mind as a product (side effect) of breeding two non intensive birds with each other.

Try some granulated charcoal and take down to a plain seed mix. Could be something in the bird so as a precaution you could run through baycox or a similar type of product
