Another great video, congratulations to you and Gerald, a top team to be reckoned with. Wishing you both much success for the future. Your videos have helped me with so much information in the start to breeding I recommend them to people also starting out when they buy my birds.

Love your videos matt. You give me so much joy. If possible I have 1 question... I live in Canada, and one of my hens who only laid 1 round of eggs... Is now calling and wanting to mate. I put the male in that just finished his molt, and he mated with her. I know he's not in condition and all that.. but what gives? Is it hopeless or some miracle she can produce and lay ? I am using natural sunlight so nothing special. Feeding them egg off and on and brocoli. Should I harden off on seed ?

I have a couple of unflighted hens picking up in the flights too! For me it’s all out of sink this time of year without artificial light and heat, I’m not clear if she’s been though the moult from your note . I know our Australian friends are breeding now although the majority are finishing off at this stage and some of the guys in the U.K. start in January so if both birds are fit and sexually mature i guess they’ll breed whenever they’re ready! Do try and keep to your “seasons” though, I try and ensure mine have an “off season” of at least 3 months (from end of November to end of February) a breeding season of 4 months, a rest /molt of 3 months and a show season of 2 months - so after each period of excursion there’s a few months of rest, if that makes sense ?
