The C80 has drawn me back to Canon big time. The triple base ISO. The brighter monitor. The improved AF, etc. I'm not bothered by the dual SD card slots. I've used SD cards for years and never had one fail on me, yet. And you can capture all of the modes with SD cards based on what I've heard so far. Plus, I think they chose the SD cards to help keep the price down, which is fine with me. This might be the one camera that pulls me away from Sony.

What would be great is to do a side-by-side in 4K at 30 frames 60 frames and 24 frames the second with the C70 in the exact same settings. The reason why I’m saying this is I have not heard anyone talk about this yet, the 6K would give you a much better 4K. People have always said the C70 is quite soft, I’m wondering if the C80 is sharper because of the 6K when filming in 4K.

As much as I love this camera and what it could do. I’m still thinking about buying the C70 just because that camera is so good for documentary work which is mainly what I do. But man that looks like a perfect camera along side, the C70. Now, knowing about this camera, would you pick it over your C400?

The Komodo doesn't crop when you drop resolution unless you shoot RAW. There is really no perceivable difference between downsampled 4k from 6k and 6k.

great video dude! This camera is awesome! And the fact that they went with a FF version of the c70 form factor, says just how much they believe in the c70 and how great of a camera it is. Definitely excited for when I can get hands on the c80, but this is a great rundown! How do you feel the sensor performs compared to the c70's DGO, since you've now used both?

Thanks for watching man! The sensors are definitely different. I noticed especially when I first shot on the C400. I’m going to try and do a c70 vs c80 side by side comparison before I send the C80 back

Damn, I love my C70, but this C80 sounds like a dream! 6K full-frame is gonna perform a lot better in low light. See this as a great camera for both docs and narratives. When I went from my C300mkii to my C70 I felt way more mobile and also easier to fly on a gimbal. Nice video! Love to see some comparisons of 6K RAW full frame C80 vs 4K RAW C70, also what happens with an EF adapter with a full frame, is it going to add another stop? Sometimes feel like my R5 is sharper than my C70 due to the diopter of the EF adapter.

I agree on the media - surprised Canon didn't upgrade this on the C80. I wish Canon had announced a optional EVF for this camera - I'm a C70 shooter and I find it useless outside without a EVF. I'm a run and gun shooter and I can't believe most C70 owners seem to have no problem with this.

I use a little 3inch sunhood for my monitor outside that works wonders! If you go to a video I posted about a year ago called “my filmmaking must haves” I have a link there. I forget what the brand is called. But I highly recommend

The C80 is a good camera and checks most of the boxes. I’m currently contemplating between the C80 and the Pyxis, with a price difference of $3,000 vs $5,500. However, considering factors like dynamic range, autofocus, internal stabilization, and triple-base ISO, the higher price of the C80 seems justified. That said, when you look at the C80’s image quality, it’s good but not great. For example, at 2:14 , the subject's shirt looks smudged and lacks detail, even though it was shot in RAW LT. If it were shot on the Pyxis, the detail would likely be far superior. Then, at 2:22, the footage looks as if it was shot on GoPro Black 11, which is underwhelming. I’m sorry to say the image quality is not impressive. I’ll need to test the camera hands-on to form a final opinion.

Between the R5II and C80? The R5II is hands down the more portable option but they are also widely different from each other! I absolutely love what my R5II offers in its small form factor

I had a feeling about the screen "fix". All they had to do is put canon r5 screen design in there it's super solid. The upgraded hinge on the c70 still sucks and on the c80 it looks no different other than that it clicks in

@@cinnabun1046 If you have tried canon mirrorless cameras screen's design, you would have to agree they are much more solid and sturdier. I have the "new" hinge on my C70 and it got lose again after they fixed it.

Quick question: I'm wondering what would be a nice stills to have as a b-camera to this? I know plenty of people would say the r5c but I feel the canon r3 (albeit underrated) is more similar in iso performance. Any experience with that camera? (Clog-2 lacking taken into consideration of coarse)

From what I’ve seen and heard, the R3 has maybe not the exact same, but a very similar sensor to the C400 & C80 so you’d probably get somewhat similar results there! I personally have not shot on it though…

Just in RAW you’re limited to 6k30 at full frame or 4k60 at S35 crop. In their 10 bit codecs it’s full frame 4k (sampled from the 6k sensor) up to 120fps and then you can drop to S35 2k up to 180fps

Yeah not 100 specifically. Staring at the menu right now and it’s 4k 10bit at 96 or 120. Then 2k 10bit opens up 96, 120, 144, 168, and 180.
