How Much of an Upgrade is the Canon C80?

The reason I am upgrading to a C400 from a C70 (instead of going to a C80), it is because in my line of work I need to produce vertical content from everything I shoot horizontal so I need the 6K for key content that produces sales for me. I also wanted to have all the benefits that the sensor offers without compromise and by that I mean having internally 60fps RAW using something stronger than V90 SD cards, there are many times when I shot with the C70 and my V90 cards stopped recording after a few seconds. Triple ISO and SDI is a huge help as well although you can also find that in the C80. So you could say that the form factor, modularity of the camera and full sensor capabilities are the reason why I chose the C400 over the C80. Im keeping my C70 as a B cam.

Mmmm, maybe I'm crazy, but in Griffin's excellent A->B comparison video the c70's highlight rolloff, color and dynamic range looked better than the c80. To my eyes the cameras had slight but noticeable differences. There's something really special about the DGO of the c70, but the c80 has it beat in every other way...

the white balance looks warmer in the c70 or at least the color in general if they are matched 100% in settings and lens. other than that I see the c80 being a lot more detailed.

C80 image looks punchier. But yeah, the dynamic range of the C70 might be better, but it's imperceptible.
