There's an 18-150mm EF-M lens for broad use.
@laurencegoldman46396 жыл бұрын
I just bought M50. I love it. I bought 22 f 2.0 which is amazing. BUT every other Ef-M option (except perhaps 11-22) sucks big time. No native primes, no native fisheye. Nothing close to Canon's own FL 55mm 1.2 , e.g. . I want another lens for my trip, would love to love the 18-150 for convenience but can't stomach the image quality. Canon has to get serious about this product line. They're calling the M50 a beginner camera-which it's not-except for the adverts that pop up on the screen when you switch functions. This camera has Digic 8 processor which is a serious piece of tech. Please make this line worthy of serious photographers.
@danimoosakhan6 жыл бұрын
Laurence Goldman I agree with you. However, Canon has to protect their higher divisions. Therefore, this series will be limited. Thus, they are calling this beginners camera. They also disabled dual-pixel AF at 4K on purpose.

What is the best EF-M lense for creating depth of field? Can I do that with kit lens
@CanonUSA6 жыл бұрын
Hi there! The kit lens is capable of creating a good shallow depth of field. However, you may want to check out the impressive EF-M 22mm f/2 STM lens too. Find out more about it at Canon.us/9wvwx We hope this helps!
@ericbulington24215 жыл бұрын
There are really only 2 traditional DoF options for the M mounts: the 22mm f/2 they mentioned or the adapter and then use one of your EF lenses...
@okaro65955 жыл бұрын
You mean low death of field? I advice to get the adapter and the 50 mm f/1.8 STM. The best in EF-M is the 32 mm f/1.4. You can get a crude value on how good it is just by dividing the focal length with the aperture i.e 50 mm / 1.8 = 28 mm. This is the maximum background blur measured on the focal plane. Similarly 32 mm / 1.4 = 23 mm and 22 mm / 2 = 11 mm. The kit lens is 45 mm / 6.3 = 7 mm. Of course you should also consider the field of view that it is appropriate- I generally prefer native lenses as adapting ruins the small size but the 50 mm is compact even with the adapter.It is same length a the 11-22 mm or 18-55 mm but ticker.

Hi... Greetings from Indonesia. Really love your video, very informative. Pls advise, as I couldn't decide which one to choose: 18-150mm or 55-200mm? I already have 18-55 kit lens and 22mm foced lens. Am looking for a telephoto lens, actually. So 55-200 would suit me best. Yet, 18-150 is really attractive as it can serve as all-rounder lense: wide and zoom at the same time. So, pls give me some advices here. Thanks... !
@CanonUSA5 жыл бұрын
Hi! The best for you will really depend on how you prefer to use your system. If you do not mind changing lenses every now and then, the EF-M 55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens is the perfect addition to your camera bag. Since you already have the range from 18-55mm covered, this will give you the best overall range. However, as you mentioned, if you prefer to stick with a single lens because it is easier to go pretty much anywhere with minimal gear or effort, the EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM is the best choice. We hope this helps!

@@amyelliott9552 actually, Canon kinda dropped the ball on this answer. All M cameras since the first one have been able to record in 60p at varying resolutions, which is what most people use to get slow motion footage by slowing it down 50% to 30p in post. You can also slow it down in-camera by pressing Q during playback to bring up the controls, it's right next to the play button. What it doesn't have is a super slow mo mode of 120p. Hope you're enjoying your M camera!

The crop factor on M series is x1.6, but how much more crop factor after putting the lens adapter? Is it x1.5 more. So if my lens is 15mm it would be (15 x 1.6 x 1.5 = 36mm) with the converter. Please confirm this.
@CanonUSA6 жыл бұрын
Hi there! The Mount Adapter EF-EOS M allows non EF-M lenses to be used on the EF-M mount. The crop factor of 1.6x from the APS-C sensor in the camera still remains and there is no additional cropping. We hope this helps!
@okaro65955 жыл бұрын
Te crop factor is the property of the sensor. The adapter does not change it. The adapter has no optics, it is essentially a 26 mm metal tube that has an EF-M mount on the other end and an EF-S mount on the other. It has two purposes: set the lend at the proper distance and carry the electric signals. A 15 mm lens would be 15 mm even after the adapter but it would have an angle of view like 24 mm on the full frame - just as the 15-45 mm kit zoom has at wide end.

Juan Alvarado nailed it. I have an EOS m100, and I like the size for travel (I do a bunch of business travel), and I HATE the lens options. Slow. Slow. Slow. 11-22, 22 (I have both). Came with the 15-45 so I cover 22 three different times... Stupid. Then there is a macro also overlapping the kit lens, and an 18-55 (another that covers 22), and then the 18-150 (another 22 mm).
