Hi here. I live in Africa in Cameroon 🇨🇲 precisely. I have this lens, the Canon RF 28-70 mm F2 L. This lens is a beast both for photos and videos. Even in very low light conditions, it produces astonishing beautiful and sharp images. In fact whenever other photographers see my gear, and the quality of pictures, they are so impressed and baffled that they keep back their own gears. 😂 The only downside of it is its weight : 1,4 kg, and after some time, you really feel it in your arms.

Picked up this lens a little over a month ago and it's been amazing only carrying 1 camera and 1 lens on each shoot. I sometimes miss my 50 1.2 but the flexibility being able to get a wide shot and tight shot in seconds is irreplaceable.

You sir, just got yourself a pinned comment! That was exactly my feeling! Irreplaceable. The images that it rendered are so wonderful. This is the lens that shooters of all brands cannot ignore its technological supremacy. It's canon's coupe de grace in the current mirrorless war. Canon is reminding people why EF lens were so dominant in the past with equipment like this.

@@TMVVisualMedia You have to consider this too. How many primes can the 28-70 F2 zoom replace vs the Sigma 28-50 1.8. Canon has an outstanding zoom lens winner here that is until Sony or Nikon bring an alternative to this market.

@TheRedc0met I have thought about it but I think I have concluded that Canon lenses stand on their own. I say this respectively, but nikon and Sony only wish they could compete. Bold claim I know. But it's my opinion that Canon sets the standard.

I had this as a rental and bought one ... loved it, said I wouldn't sell it ever ... and did because much as I loved it I wasn't using it due to the weight and fact I have the 24-70 f2.8L as well ! I now miss it but don't need it. I just miss the rendering and awesome IQ it gave which was just that bit more special than the 24-70 gives even though that is great. I have also just added an R8 to my R5 and this lens would definitely not be one to use with that !! It is the best zoom I have ever used and I preferred it to the RF 50 and RF 85 f1.2 I also had (and sold as a result of buying this lens). It is a truly great lens and one I hope to own again.

@@TMVVisualMedia I do have a question for you: if you could have, say, four lenses of your choice, with cost being almost no object, what would you choose? Maybe say you have $10,000 you could spend on those lenses. And those are the only lenses you are likely to ever have. I guess you need a good all around zoom lense, like the 28-70 you reviewed here. I think I would definitely want a 50mm prime. I would want a macro, and I would want a telephoto. And since this is likely my last hurrah before I shuffle off this mortal coil, I want the best I can afford. Any thoughts?
@TMVVisualMedia

Good question! I would highly suggest the lens in the video. The 28-70 f2, (or the 24-70 f2.8) then I would go to a 70-200 f2.8 and my last zoom would be a 15-35 f2.8. As for the prime, I would choose the 85mm f1.2 or the 50mm f1.2. That will get you close to 10k if not a smidge over. Check out my recommendations here. I own all of these lenses mentioned above except for the 50 1.2 but it's high on my shopping list. I'm about a job or two from saving up for the 50 f1.2 www.amazon.com/shop/take.my.victure

I have the 15-35mm f/2.8 and the 50mm f/1.2 …I wish I would have gotten the 28-70mm f/2 before the 15-35…but I only got the 15-35 because of the crop on the original R. Debating if I’m going to get the R5C, R, C70 or something else. The R8 & R6 II really blew many R originals out of the park…I really like the weather resistance of the R5…but like the quality of the C70…I wonder how good the R5C is in weather compared to the R5. I know it has the fan opening…but I’m wondering if it’s still sealed on the back end of the fan. Is it as weather resistant as the R5 with the image quality of the C70? I’d like to find out. No videos about the moisture handling of these 3 cameras but I know that the C70 cannot handle moisture at all…while the R5 was made for it. I know because my teacher owns them both and had to send his C70 to the shop after very little moisture. @SoJesusChrist and congrats on your 1,000 subs and 4,000 watch hours! Was it very difficult? You seem unbothered

Thanks for the comment. I love the R5 and I have spoken to few people that own the R5c and they have mentioned that if you own the R5 there is no real reason to buy the R5c. Plus you lose IBIS. @@TMVVisualMedia yes…I subscribed to you. Yes…I really like the IBIS…It doesn’t make sense that the R5C is more expensive yet they take out IBIS. IBIS and the high MP was one of the reasons I wanted the R5. Based on a video I seen…The R5 has some slight color issues when pushed to extremes. This is not something I’d expect in 2023 from a Camera that price. The R6 was way more accurate than the R5 when it came to lots of things…but the R5 seemed to be brighter. I was never really a fan of the R6 because of the low MP…but after doing it stacked side by side to the R5…It blew my mind that the only difference was that the R5 was brighter. The R8 and the R6 II brought a whole new technology to Canon cameras…that’s why I keep telling Canon they need to make a R5 II! The R5 The R5C has way more tools that the R5 doesn’t. It doesn’t make sense to me that we pay so much money for Canon but they hold back on making it all that it should be.

I dont know. It doesnt beat primes, audible clicks and slow AF, no stabilization, very noticable chromatic abberation, heavy focus breathing and its huuuge. Kinda meh experience to use. If it was smaller it would be an easier point and shoot lens. Thats what a normal zoom range lens should be. Only real reason to get this one is the f2 and with so many compromizes its a meh lens for me. Atleast its decently sharp and I love the lock switch compared to the turn lock on the 100-500. Anyway in terms of iq its nowhere close to the 50 and 85 f1.2 lenses and lacks the versatility of the 24-70 that can be used for video with stabilization, no focus breathing and audible AF clicks. This makes it an awkward choice. But thats just my experience with it. Dont get me wrong the photos are still plenty good. For video though I would take the 24-70mm.
