Mine arrived two days ago. I returned both my RF 24-70 F2.8 L & RF 50 F1.2 L in favor of this beast. Love it!

@@TMVVisualMedia i use both the 28-70 and the 50 1.2 and the 28-70 does not replace the 50 whatsoever (to me) if you do commercial portraiture. Again, to me, the 50 renders much more beautifully. Although i do now consider swapping it for the 85 1.2. To add to this, the 70-200 beyond 120mm is my preferred lens if the distance to the subject permits.

Interesting, the lens that lives on my R5 is now the 70-200. And it used to be the 28-70mm. I had to make the tough choice between the 50 and 85 1.2 a few weeks back. The 50 is a kit must, in my opinion.

This thing is gorgeous! One day I will replace my EF 24-70 with this. Once they start having refurbs out on the market and I can get it a little cheaper lol

Caitlin, do you primarily do video with your 24-70? I ask because the 28-70 does not have a stabilizer. I consider the 28-70 almost unusable for video. Due it's weight and size. It's a monster for taking still, though. Thanks for the comment! We should link on Instagram👍

The IBIS definitely helps. I have continued practicing my hand held work and I have needed to add small rig handles for added stability. With the handles and the IBIS I get much better results. Thanks for the comment!

Just switching to mirrorless, ordered the R5 and now I’m convinced having made the right choice with this lens. Can’t wait to get my hands on them. Apparently lenses are not the sharpest wide open, is it true for this one? At which F stop did you get the sharpest images?

I like to stay at f2 to f4 for the 28-70mm. It's a killer lens. But it's heavy and it doesn't have stabilization. It's my most prized possession. I need to update this video. Thanks for the comment!

@@TMVVisualMedia thank you. I’ve been using the 70-200 and I was fine with that, we’ll see what the extra weight means. The R5 does have IBIS, that might help. Unfortunately there is no place selling camera gear in Jersey, no way to test it. By Jersey I mean Jersey, Channel Islands, not the new one.

I got a used one for my 6R yesterday. Good shots, but some kept missing focus or focussing on the background. I don't know why.

Interesting. I find that I miss focus more often with this lens and my R5. With the R6 I was spot on all the time. At least it seemed so. Its a hefty lens for sure.

Great content and review. In growing your channel though be mindful of odd things in the background such as your low battery smoke alarm. Little thing like that can pull your viewers out from the quality you are trying to produce.

The review probably helped very much, but after 30 seconds the music with neurolinguistic programming repeating patterns became omnipotent and annihilated everything you’re taking about. And that’s pretty bad for the amount of work you must put into such a video.

Lol. It might. But as I mentioned, this "fun fact" came from a Canon rep at a class I attended. It's possible she was joking. But I didn't second guess it. I thought "Luxury" was fitting.
