Just came back to your video to enjoy it again. Just did the Cantii Way myself last week, over 3 days. Stopping overnight in Dover (Premier Inn) and Rye (Mermaid Inn), starting and ending in Canterbury (because it has easy access from my local railway station). I opted for the alternative route between Wye and Canterbury along NCN 18 as I was on a road bike. I also skipped the last part of the Military Canal path too as I'd heard it was extremely wet and muddy. TBH in hindsight if I think I'd have been better off with my hardtail MTB (I don't own a gravel bike), which while slower on the road would have made the off-road sections easier going. I'd have put slicks on it to make it roll better on the paved sections.

Ah many thanks 🙏 good to know it was a fair insight .. sounds like you plotted your stops well 👍🚴 in regards to the bike sure the MTB hard tail may have given you some alternative route options, certainly if you covered some of the South Downs which was rocky with exposed roots.. but ultimately you still enjoyed the circuit regardless 👍 at the end of the day the routes are ultimately a general guide so going off the beaten track makes no real difference huh .. it’s what works best for you 👍😀 good health - safe cycling out there 🚴

Thanks for posting. So, you did it in two days, with one overnight stay? Did you have to bomb it, or was it fairly leisurely? Thanks.

Hi there, well I had an afternoon of cycling as i had only finished work that morning & then two days to break it up, 1 night in Margate & one night in New Romney, I didn't have to go mad to be honest, however I ride at a steady pace & still had time to enjoy the surroundings & take time out during the day to eat. It ultimately depends on your agenda, it suited me to work to the time frame I had set aside, 2 full days is comfortable others may prefer 3-4 - safe cycling out there - an enjoyable fairly relaxed circuit.

@@salvaquest2123 Thanks. I was thinking 2 nights in early spring.

@@paulr8990 yes sounds good, if you go via the off road section which is part the route then its very rutted & rocky (north Downs) minimum 700x38 and tubeless beneficial as potential for pinch flats on this section is high..

🤔 not quite sure where you are coming from TBH .. it’s not described as the absolute definitive guide it’s a general overview cycling / Bikepacking clockwise covering all of the “Cantii Way” The vast majority of which follows the route as detailed, anyone looking to cycle this will upload the GPS files accordingly or download the general guide, when people view, they generally view to get an overall idea of what a particular ride involves and the locations that they will be passing through of which I have detailed accordingly-Safe cycling out there 🚴.
