Quinn Hughes has two more years on his contract after this one, and there is no doubt in my mind that he will want to join his brothers in Jersey after the contract ends. The Canucks have to figure out pretty quick if they want to go all in and try to give themselves a chance to win while he is a Canuck or rebuild. Creative and with good defensive skills as well, defenceman Brännström, sent to Abbotsford (while being top 3 defenceman on Vancouver up until that point, only behind the top 2 defenceman Hughes and Hronek), and he has played like 8 games there in Abbotsford now, with i think 12 points and +11. No one on Abbotsford is even close to that. And he had a lot of + also in Vancouver (unless something happened at the end?), compared to most other players on the team, so he seems to be doing something right, not just a coincidence that he is +. (i just verified the numbers: Brännström ended with -4 on Vancouver, but he was - 4 in the last 5 games he played. Most players on Canucks have minus BTW. And his Abbotsford numbers were correct: 8 games played 12 points and +11. And he used to be plus on Vancouver too and created plays for the team) Why did Tocchet get rid of Brännström who was a bargain and could do so much good for the team? Rich Tocchet has become the main problem in Vancouver (shifting the players/lines way to much forever and ever (and never giving them chance to develop stable chemistry), and not even keeping the good lines when they appear but still continuing to change everything all the time).

What I just don’t understand as a Canucks fan is why, if this management group knew from the beginning that Miller and Petterson had issues, that they chose to trade Horvat instead of Miller. Why? Literally none of this would be happening? Why did they resign Miller when he had a year left on his deal? Why did they pressure Petterson to sign within the season the year after? Why force it when you had a number 1 or 2 center in Bo Horvat who was willing to stay? The Canucks almost beat the Oilers in the playoffs last year with a third string goalie, injured Boeser in game 7, and Petterson injured and basically invisible. There is a timeline, and not one so crazy where pigs can fly, where the Canucks trade Miller instead and they beat the Oilers, beat the stars, and at least make the Cup Final in 2024. Now they are destroying the best core the Canucks have ever had, wasting the prime of and possibly losing the best defenseman they’ve ever had, and creating an environment players can’t thrive in. WTF is this management group doing?
@NooBeRGoD8 күн бұрын
Oilers destroyed the Canucks, metaphorically and literally. hahahahaha 🤣😂🤣
@jordannewman1778 күн бұрын
@ In 7 games? Against a third string goalie? By one goal? Yeah, most lopsided series in history. That Oilers team (and the one this year) were frauds who didn’t deserve to make the finals and got exposed. The only reason they forced game 7 is that Florida let their guard down.
@NooBeRGoD8 күн бұрын
@ Vancouver barely made it by the Predators then got wrecked by a real team. Canucks were up 3-2 too, then couldn't finish. Oilers destroyed Canucks. Frauds also don't make the SCF and come back from 3-0 in the series 🤣😂🤣
@jordannewman1778 күн бұрын
@ They got past the preds pretty easily if you bothered to watch that series. How did the Canucks even go up 3-2 in the first place. Not having you goalie, your top goal scorer, or your superstar playing at top level does usually hinder you in finishing a series though. And frauds absolutely go down 3-0 in a series. Again, Florida let its guard down, the fraudulent Coilers never stood a chance in that series and were never truly in it.
@NooBeRGoD8 күн бұрын
@@jordannewman177 The only frauds were the Canucks. Played way over their heads in the season and the superior team proved that in the playoffs. Just look how this season turned out for the frauds. Bottom half of the pacific. "Not having you goalie, your top goal scorer, or your superstar playing at top level" is all just #ExcusiumCopium to rationalize the embarrassing loss. And just to use the same "logic" you used, the Oilers came back from 3-0 forcing Game 7 against the Panthers and lost by "1 goal" which apparently means they barely beat us. I love the Oceangate submersible impression the Canucks keep doing. Sinking to the bottom of the pacific. Keep crying kid 😘

At least the bandaid is ripped off now. We all don't have to guess. Hopefully media and fans can move on from it now. Either the team figures it out or trades will happen. One way this can get sorted out is if 2 adults grow up.

They're 1pt away from the last WC spot. If the top forwards played like they did last season, or anywhere close to that, they'll be top 3 in the pacific already. Instead you got Hughes, a defenseman, having nearly 20 more pts than any other player

why DID they trade horvat over miller?
@pearldrums927 күн бұрын
I grew up playing hockey. If my captain couldn’t kick my ass I never listened to them. That may be hyperbole but I was definitely more inclined to follow somebody who didn’t mind dying on a hill for what they believed in. I was never an “enforcer” but I was big enough to protect my team mates and speak up when I needed to. I can’t help but believe some of this is due to Quinns lack of size and aggression. Just my .02

I think Vancouver is stuck right now because they don't want to give up Petterson, but I think it's obvious to most teams that JT Miller is a locker room cancer and no matter how good of a player he is no one wants to give up NHL level assets for a chance to ruin your locker room, and therefore, your team. They'll either have to give away Miller for nothing or part with Petey
@johns55277 күн бұрын
how about Toronto makes a deal Marner for JT Miller
@tonyschiaroli32747 күн бұрын
Canucks need to start with a franchise player who they can rely on not to be a cancer in dressing room. Then only go after players who love ❤️ Canada 🇨🇦 & want to be part of growing into a championship team. The Petterson contract is insane. Hockey I.Q. is very much needed in the culture going forward 😢

should have traded Pettey last year or in the Horvat trade year... millar and horvat down the middle would have been way more cost effective and kept you away from an anchor that has poor practice habbits
@maqywhaq8 күн бұрын
Were you paying attention to the situation the year Horvat was traded? The drama was between JT and Horvat. They chose JT, but the same sort of issue creeped up again with other personnel(Petey now). Horvat was the Sedins' type of player, contemplative/respectful, tends not to say more than needs to be said, but a responsible leader in the room. Petey IMO is a introspective type that has a tendency to overanalyse his own playstyle to his detriment when he's better while he plays instinctively. JT's the exact opposite(when JT struggles, he primarily manifests his frustrations outwards), and while I think its possible they can work together, it'll only happen if JT were more understanding of Petey's process instead of just "do what I do, stop thinking so damn much". Both are passionate about the game, it just manifests differently.

When you guys lose Quinn Hughes (and notice I said 'when' not 'if') it won't be because of this, it will be because he's an American and he'll want to play with at least one of his brothers. But it could be worse, as you could be a Devils fan . See, I think that when the Hughes' are UFA's, they will be signed by Vegas - not sure why I just have that feeling.

This mess just pisses me off as a Canucks fan. I’m tired of all the hate surrounding JT Miller. Petterson clearly has been struggling the past couple seasons with consistency and honestly looks lazy after his payday, while Miller has consistently been a driving force for the team. If the rift is because of Pettersons lack of competitiveness then I completely understand why Miller would have issues with him! The highest paid player on your team isn’t contributing. I’d much rather see Petterson go than Miller. Cut your losses and use that cap space to sign a new winger. Tochett’s system doesn’t work with Petterson so replace him with someone actually eager to be a part of it
@NooBeRGoD7 күн бұрын
The hate for JT Miller is because he's a toxic douchebag, and Pettersson isn't even the first guy he's ever had issues with. Miller is supposed to be a leader on the team, and instead of helping to prop up his teammates he chooses to berate and belittle them into shutting down. There's nothing wrong with a firm hand from time to time, but as the saying goes "You'll attract more flies with Honey than Vinegar"
