The American Presidential election is just days away. It is important to note that in the United States the winner is not simply determined by a national popular vote. Because America is a union of states, each of the fifty states gets a proportional voice in the selection of the next President. Many states show a clear preference for one political party, but a handful of states are too close to call. Those states are called battleground states and play an oversized role in the country's choice for President. It appears that the 2024 Presidential election may ultimately be determined by one particular state. In this episode The Capitol Hill Show travels to that state and talks with voters on the ground to determine what is most important to them.

Here in The U.S. we have 3 branches of our Federal Government; The Executive, The Legislative, & The Judicial. The Executive is The President & Vice President who get elected every 4 years. There are 2 main political parties that we have to choose our Presidents from, Democrats & Republicans, but there are also 3 smaller political parties, Libertarians, Greens, & Independents, but they aren't as popular as the main 2. The Legislative Branch is our Congress, which is comprised of The House & The Senate. The Congress has been set at 535 members since the 1950s where there are 2 Senators from all 50 states totaling 100 & 435 House members are proportioned based on the population of the 50 states. A larger state like Texas (where I live) has over 30 House members while a smaller state like Delaware has just 1 House member. All 435 House members face re-election every 2 years, while Senators serve 6 year terms but only 33-35 face re-election every 2 years. Additionally, The Senate is the upper chamber of the Congress, which means it has more power then The House since Senators get elected state-wide & get to vote on certain things House members don't. The Judicial is the Supreme Court & regional courts whom are nominated by The President & get voted on for approval by The Senate. Finally, there are Governors in all 50 states that get elected by the people of their state. I hope all of this helps explain how our system of government works.

Same goes for Israel. Funny U.S. tax payers never have a problem dishing out 4 billion dollars of free money every year to Israel. Meanwhile the U.S. has the #1 largest population of homeless people in the world. Israel actually has universal healthcare and the U.S. does not. 30 million Americans can literally die because they have no healthcare. You guys have misguided priorities.

The answer is not to define the problem as Price Gauging - that's a cheap distraction for the masses of gettable votes - a cheap way to explain why everything costs more - prices are high because ppi is high - the answer lies in economic policies to bring the cost of transporting goods and services among many other components of the production process - when companies who sell goods incur lesser costs, then prices stabilize - unfortunately prices don't necessarily come down, the rate of inflation slows - The Harris camp is telling me that they will do nothing to bring the prices down, and instead direct blame to the producers and sellers of consumer goods - this is not sound policy - regardless of social issues etc. - this is most important to me because I want to live the life my parents did - I want my buck to go further ...
