I remember seeing these when I was a kid. They might have been on Channel 11 from New York, which we got in South Jersey when we got cable (you know, the kind with the box with all the buttons connected to the TV with a wire). The theme songs have stayed in my head ever since, and I remember being touched by the one with Cap's wartime girlfriend (not named as Peggy in the cartoon). Between that and Nickelodeon's Video Comics (a very early Nick show that moved the camera from panel to panel of DC comics while actors read the dialogue), I got a pretty good grounding in Silver Age comics at the age of about nine.

As a kid, I was hooked on the Marvel Super Heroes Show. Cap. Iron Man. Hulk. Sub-Mariner. Sure, it was all barely-animated panels. Little me did not care. Marvel Comics was on TV, moving (kinda), and I was there for it.

Scott, thanks so much for this Captain America video and also, the one on Thor. My friends and I remember watching these cartoons back in the Stone Age, when we were teenagers. We thought the animation and dialog were so bad, they were great ... they ranked alongside Clutch Cargo and Colonel Bleep for minimal animation. As primitive and corny as the cartoons were, they are unforgettable and should be made available. Look forward to your episodes on The Hulk, Iron Man, and the Submariner. BTW, I could have sworn I also watched the Spiderman cartoons along with the others. But, maybe I'm conflating things. Keep up the great work!

I was a kid when The Marvel Superheroes premiered on Channel 9 in New York. These cartoons were great and as far as the animation goes, the technology was not there like today so it was a little limited but still fun and entertaining.

Just FYI, I love these episodes you put out, Scott! They're always so well researched and the narrative you weave is so fascinating, even for somebody with no interest in the source material! 💚 I just wish KZbin wouldn't keep forgetting to add them to my recommended feed. Other video essayists who only update on occasion usually make the top, so that's weird 🤔

new here. Back in the Late 80s and early 90s they sold pirated copies of it at Dragon Con. Guy had a VCR tape booth. Had a lot of stuff I hadn't seen in a while at the time. Never owned this particular piece. I think they used to play it as a rerun at like 6 AM on some weird channel. If you could get a list of past boothes you might be able to find the guy who used to sell them. Good luck!

I had a vhs of the Sub-Mariner cartoon from this. It’s pretty odd, he teams up with Dr. Doom in one episode. And this was before marvel kinda fixed him and made him more of an anti-hero. Also holy crap, two Scott videos in less than a month, I am truly blessed.
