Mike is a cool guy. I met him twice. Once over here in the UK and a few months later over in Massachusetts at the New England Blues Summit. A great guitarist.

Enjoying this. I saw Mike live a few years ago and he was great, his guitar sound (custom tele, valve amp, probably three pedals) was all that dynamic, chewy thing the guitar magazines told me about but I rarely heard.

I know this may sound cliche, but Mike truly puts on a fantastic show! The music just flows through him. Do not miss the chance seeing him live! Last I saw him was in Milwaukee at Shank Hall and Greg Koch the GristleKing joined him on stage. What a treat!

Pop into Kennedy’s for Pale Divine, Uncle Tupelo, The Urge, head over to Mike and Min’s for Tommy Bankhead, then up the street to the Great Grizzly Bear for Billy Peek. Live music was great back then. Now I’m old and crankin Ytube for any band anywhere. Life is good. Bigup Mike as they say in Blighty.

My 2 brothers and I ran sound for a blues festival in Winter Park, Colorado headlined by Joe Bonamassa in 2005. Mike Zito was also a featured artist. Mike was a terrific player and very nice guy that treated us really well. He had a 12-13 year old son with him who also had amazing chops for a guitarist so young.

Lovely. You geeking out on famous people just wanting to be regular people. I once did a Billy Greer (Kansas bass player) interview, and was so excited meeting him. Mainly because of his bands Streets (with Steve Walsh) and Seventh Key (apart from Kansas). And he... had just become a grandfather. He was so lovely. But for the life of me I could not get a cool music interview done with him, ha ha. He was on a completely different planet.

Also... Remember in the early 60s when they had an amp and a guitar, they fell on tonebenders, echoplex, wah, phasers etc like John Mills coming out of the desert and drinking a Carlsberg. It's all about finding new ways of expressing yourself and that is why it goes in cycles. If you've been guitar/amp/reverb for a while, the pedals can be inspiring. But taking the pedals away again has the same effect.

Mike Zito is a real guitar hero down here in the Texas Golden Triangle (Nederland, TX). His blues are very personal, very soulful, and very, very real. He has used his music as therapy to live through a time of great loss of family. I thoroughly enjoyed this interview.

Let’s give some respect to Anderson’s here, promoting a pedal brand exclusively stocked by Peach, and a guitar brand exclusively stocked by Coda, two main competitors. Add in the discussion around gear being a distracting rabbit hole……….it’s bigger picture stuff here that gives Anderson’s the edge.

@@andertons lol 👍 It was great. Could see you trying to pull it back round again a couple of times. Mike was wonderful - what a great guy. Don't worry though - we're still buying gear. And when we do we'll be coming to Lee - because he's a great lad, a great sense of humour and we've had wonderful entertainment from these videos over the years. Danish Pete's first appearance clinched the Mesa Boogie purchase for me.

No way ...... putting Eric Clapton and John Mayer on the same level , I'm sorry but I totally disagree , Eric broke the rules in the studio and influenced so many White Blues guitar players by bringing the Black Blues players to the foreground in London. John is no doubt a great player but he hasn't really changed anything in the guitar industry

I’m not a big Mayer fan, but he’s definitely changed the music world. He’s a guitar hero just like EC and brings people into music and the music that influenced him. One may have influenced more than the other, but that’s hard to say?
@deanmlshredder
@deanmlshredder 9 күн бұрын
John Mayer is driving the modern blues along with a few others but I'd have to put him at the top. HOWEVER! He doesn't exist without Clapton. JM has the chops but IMHO he doesn't have the songs. Clapton's catalogue has more pages than the bible. Your body is a WHAT? I don't think so. lol
