One of my all time favourite films, I just love it. In the 90's I was driving around my home town in the UK and spotted a perfect replica of the 'car' behind me. I managed to chat with the owner (I don't think it was Satan) and he was also an avid fan: strange but true......

It is so crazy that barely any tourist or anything was there in 1977. Even signs were added around the area. I was about 9 when the movie came out and I really wanted to see it then. I got my wish when my older cousin took me to see it.

I recognized Utah and the wonderful places, by the way Zion is a very beautiful NP to visit....well played to see the places where The Car takes place. I always think about Duel by Steven Spielberg filmed in California and scary roads too....

Been Going to St George/ Hurricane?LaVerkin and Springdale (ZION) Since May 24th, 1976. Back in 1985 I took my Friend on His FIRST TRIP to Utah and Gave Him "THE CAR Tour In the Zion Tunnel His LIGHTS Went OFF I GAVE the HORN a "CAR" BEEP in the DARK TUNNEL ! He FLIPPED ! On the way back to Ohio from visiting my mother's sister in Palm Springs, CA, my parents & I went through the tunnel in a 1973 Ford F-100. I got scared due to the darkness. It was August of 1977 about a week after Elvis died; I was 4 that year. Edit: Saw the movie at the drive-in when it was released in May 1977. To this day, still remember seeing the bicyclist getting run over.

They jumped from Zion to LaVerkin and back. The car chased the bicyclist off the road in Zion and he fell off the bridge in LaVerkin.

I would like to know some locations of this film where they are in reality. 1) The place where John Morris is killed in front of the house where Amos lives with his wife and son. 2) The house where Wade lives with his daughters and where the meeting with the car will take place. 3) The place where the elderly sheriff Everett is killed by the car. 4) The school where Lauren teaches music. 5) The house where Lauren lives and where she will be killed by the car.

🙂 Utah is a good place for making movies. According to Google: 2 car models were destroyed at filming and 1 car is kept in private

Thank you for sharing this. I always wondered where this was filmed. Clearly Santa Ynez was one of the towns in the movie but that's in southern CA. The scenery is not indicative of that area. Then there's mention of Thomas County and Daigler County, both of which appear to be fictitious. Good job!

i want that you know that i want to visit all these locations of this movie, but many of them are very difficult to find, with absolute precision because often the location reference is very superficial, so as you visited these places, i think you can send the exact location with the latitude and longitude coordinates, so it makes everything easier, so I would really appreciate it if you could send this data because looking in the place randomly is very difficult, and i think you agree with my observation that is good and thank you.

I rode my bike though Zion from mt. Carmel to St. George. They wouldn't let me ride through the tunnel. Had to hitch a ride with passer by vehicles.

Hi, thank you. I am sorry, but I got no list with the exact coordinates, but I can tell you the locations: - At the start it is Red Rock Canyon State Park, near Cantil California/USA - Then many scenes were filmed at Mt. Carmel Tunnel and Mt. Carmel Hwy in Zion National Park, Utah/USA. You have to follow the road then you will find all the locations - The ending scene with the bridge is the Hurricane La Verkin Bridge in La Verkin, Utah/USA The locations are not so hard to find as you might think. Very important in the Zion National Park is to drive from Mt. Carmel Tunnel all the way to the end of Mt. Carmel Hwy. Take your time, drive slowly and look around you. I am sure you will find the locations as I did. You can prepare your route by using Google maps, I found out all the locations with Google maps. Hope I could help you....all the Best!
