The last factory 917, #12 of Vic Elford and Richard Atwood retired with 327 laps (hour 22) from a gear box and clutch failure. The GT40 #6 of Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver completed 372 laps and won Le Mans. The 917 won its first Le Mans in 1970 on its SECOND TRY with Hans Herrmann and Richard Atwood at the wheel of the #23 917.

@@Gucci_lvu That's only half true. Different billionaires with similar net worth's can have astronomically different levels of spending power entirely depending on where/if their money is invested. A billionaire whose investments are very diversified in lots of different stocks, bonds, real estate properties and portfolios will have vastly greater cashflow and spending power than one who'se entire net worth is held up in one big privately owned business. Bonds and real estate especially are great cash flowing assets. Stocks are not so much so, but if they're well diversified, then small bits of various stocks can be very easily sold off to fund such expensive purchases. In addition, billionaires can lend money and bind the loans to their assets such as their real estate to fund expensive purchases. That will come with the downside of debt with interest rates, but is another common way for billionaires to fund their purchases.

They probably don't, but they can probably make new ones if they're needed. Car companies tend to go above and beyond for customers of such rare and extremely expensive vehicles. And these customers can also afford to pay for such rare/one-off replacement parts.
