@Jeremy Thompson we Dyno’d my 1970 L78 engine the only mod we did was a mechanical roller cam ground to equal the specs of the factory cam and we used a 950 cam Proform race series carb with MSD basic street dist We got 514 Hp at 6600 and 554 ft/ torque at 5400

I have an aluminum headed 400 sbc/4 speed in my Nova.
@Ecoblu19723 ай бұрын
The ONE thing I hated about the. Nova was the swept wing speedo it reminds me of a Buick passenger car I Never understood why it didn’t have a SS dash. After my dads 68 SS Chevelle got stolen in 71 he was looking at an L72 Vette but being 25 the insurance was as much as the car payment so then he looked at a L78 4spd Nova but the clutch was worn and he wouldn’t come down on price so he 😂 Settled for a Copo Camaro both priced at $1900 not a bad deal

This car is not the real deal. I know the guy they bought it from on long island. He installed the heads and even stamped the block I believe. I remember him saying the date codes worked out perfectly to make it seem real. They also had protector plate made for this car because he didn’t give them one.

Why are people commenting on 1970 Nova’s when he clearly said it’s a 1969. If this was a 1970 it wouldn’t be rare at all, L89 Nova’s were common that year BUT definitely not in 69.
@GlassTopRX75 жыл бұрын
That is a 70 a 69 has Chevy II on the front of hood not the logo. Also it would have been very rare in 70' as the L78 wasn't even a listed option for the Nova. The advertised top engine was the L34. So all 70' L78 had to be special orders and you had to have a L78 or L71 to order the L89 heads.
@jeffbrown65995 жыл бұрын
GlassTopRX7 a ‘69 does not have a Chevy II emblem on it anywhere, that was dropped after ‘68.
@GlassTopRX75 жыл бұрын
@@jeffbrown6599 My bad. Still not a 69 though, they had the short rear marker lamps and didn't have fake louvers on the front fenders.
@jeffbrown65995 жыл бұрын
GlassTopRX7 no, it’s definitely a ‘70. All others had amber lenses. All ‘70’s and some early ‘71’s had clear lenses.

Has to be dealer installed, not factory all L78 Nova's were special orders in 70'. So I'm not buying even with sketchy chevy record keeping they had no clue in 70'.
@asfshrimp5 жыл бұрын
the car has the protecto plate and documented may it was a late 69 production and they made it 1970
@GlassTopRX75 жыл бұрын
@@asfshrimp When the car is produced isn't what matters in this context it's the model year. My RX-7 was made in 93' but it's 94' model year. It has options only available on 94' cars like the glass sunroof vs a steel one. If I split hairs it's one of 235 made for USDM. As in black, manual with touring option out of only 3403 cars made in 94.

It’s documented as far as it can be documented. Super rare, 1 of 1 L89 396. Look it up. Doesn’t matter whether you believe it or not, the true experts have spoken.
@GlassTopRX75 жыл бұрын
@@jeffbrown6599 An expert wouldn't make a claim that can't be backed up. Chevy records said they didn't make one and they lack the proof to say it's real.
@jeffbrown65995 жыл бұрын
GlassTopRX7 in those days you could order a car virtually how you wanted it, easily could have been purchased via the COPO route. Besides that, as good as documentation can be, it isn’t always.
