When Michael says: "Carbonaro Effect is the name of a hidden camera, magic, TV show" the people still look very confused. Unlike when Allen Funt said "......smile, you're on Candid Camera" everyone on the entire planet knew what just happened. (the world felt a lot more intimate and smaller back then).

Interesting observation, but to be fair, there's a big difference in the pranks from Candid Camera vs the tricks on the Carbonaro Effect. A lot of times, when talking to Michael, people seemed to just be really freaked/stunned about what they saw, so it takes them longer to register what he's saying.

Well true Rudy but he's also 1//1000th as known as Allen Funt too. I understand the shock-process of registering what just went down but there's no entertainment value watching them look confused (well to me anyway) The rhetorical question of "Have you heard of the Carbonaro Effect?" followed by the sentence: "The Carbonaro Effect is the name of a hidden camera, magic, TV show"--- is just too much to consume and too unknown to understand. I think if he just said 'you're on a hidden tv show' FIRST, it might be absorbed better.. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this and I bet there were many a-round-table discussion at TBS discussing just this :)

If he's 1/1000th as known, then it would make sense they don't recognize him immediately right? CC premiered in 1948 and seeing as how the CE premiered in 2014, it would make sense that instead of saying something generic and inaccurate like you're "you're on a hidden tv show", he leads with the name of the show, and repeats "Carbonaro Effect" - It's pretty simple branding, which helps to increase recognition and I really don't think altering the order of words would make people get it any faster. My only criticism of how he delivers the reveal, is that there are quite a few times where instead of just getting to the point, he drags it out and makes people think he's talking about some scientific principle, which confuses them more especially if they have heard of the show, because then they don't want to sound stupid. He definitely should get to the point quicker. I personally don't mind watching their wheels spin before they get it. To me, that adds to the authenticity instead of all his marks instantly (and unrealistically) recognizing his three year old show :P

Well again, I'm agreeing with your first sentence but that's my point. He says it as if they're supposed to 'get it'....where in reality it leaves them even more baffled. I guess a quicker recognition (ergo; feeling foolish faster for falling for the prank) would be more satisfying. Instead there's this lingering. Eh, it's no big deal. Just think it's a bad marketing decision especially the name (Carbonaro Effect) although they get a lot of bang for the buck by using it at the end. The reveal just doesn't feel fulfilling. But great talent, great show just the same. PS I'm just discovering this show online. So I'm real brand new.

Right, and I agree that there's a bit too much confusion sometimes - and I think this is mostly due to dragging out the reveal. There are some reveals where he says it much more quickly, and the realization is much smoother for it. Also, I don't watch the show on tv much, but from what I've seen they don't show every reveal which is annoying. I agree that name isn't the best branding in the world, but I think it works enough to their advantage if they shorten the reveal and get to the point. Also, the show really is only 3 years old, and I hope to see it go on longer, so who knows, maybe the name will catch on more and people with start to have quicker reactions to the reveal. And cool that you're a new viewer :) I think the show is pretty unique, and I really like watching Michael interact with people, so I'm a big fan and hope it goes on for at least a few more years.
